Personality

Daniel is something of a two-sided coin. Externally, he’s just one big bright ball of sunshine.* Sarcasm intended obvs Seemingly rambunctious and carefree, and always up to no good. He laces almost every sentence with a healthy dose of sarcasm, hoping to get a laugh out (be it with or at the person said sarcasm is directed at). Often works to be over-dramatic, twisting his own emotional reactions in attempts to try and hide his true feelings (or to gain an advantage over others). Though annoying, at least he can be somewhat charming and fun to hang around, always wanting in on some sort of action to keep himself occupied.

Internally, he’s in an endless cycle of self-loathing and resentment. The happy-go-lucky façade is his way of keeping the outside world at a distance. He’s made it this far on his own, why would he need someone else’s help now? (Though, help in terms of magi related activities are greatly appreciated - he’s not an idiot, he knows that this is something he can’t tackle alone.) Convinced that humanity is naturally despicable and not worth having any faith in, he believes in the philosophy of “do whatever the hell you want, as long as you’re willing to pay the consequences for it.” And that’s exactly what he does. One to judge others quickly, and this judgment is hard to overturn. Will bail if the going gets tough, even more so now than before because of his wish. Though, if you do manage to get on this boy’s good side, he’s incredibly loyal and supportive. Though, he can get quite clingy/overprotective.

With recent developments (Nari’s death, as well as the pressure of magi life), he’s become a lot more vulnerable. It’s very hard for him to maintain his more light-hearted persona when he’s dealing with his whole world crumbling around him, but he's trying to open up more and work against his negative nature to be a more positive person - if just to help him survive. Slowly, the idea of friends is becoming more appealing and a desire to live up to his sister's name makes him try to be less selfish.

  • Before Daniel's bad experiences, he was much like Nariko personality wise. One of the reasons he was so overprotective of her was because he didn’t want her to lose her optimism and innocence, like he had.
  • "The concept of witches deeply fascinates him. Not in an energy/entropy way – he couldn’t give a damn about the fate of the universe. The concept that the horrors and despairs of a person could run so deep that it literally transforms them into some horrific beast…it’s such a fitting end for ones stupid enough to trade their soul for fleeting satisfaction.
  • He's the kind of kid who could be really great in school if he cared about it, but likes surprising people with his true intelligence. The look on their faces when they realize he's not just some airhead delinquent is priceless.
  • He has never touched magic or magic tricks in his life - the costume's more symbolic for him. BUT now he's starting to get into it, to live up to the expectations. It's actually a lot of fun! He just needs the right audience to practice it in front of...
  • Used to be really into MMOs and such, but now he's more of a casual player. Too much else on his plate. Though with a friend to play with him, he's been getting back into them to cool off from his constant training.
  • VERY uncomfortable with the Team at first, due to his previous experience with the gang of his home town, but realizes that this is not a voluntary agreement, so he feigns to be a very devoted/loyal member. With how things went at the Town Meeting...yeah, it's unlikely he'll be feeling the Hunter cheer anytime soon. If anything, he actually feels embarrassed to call himself a Hunter. The Enforcers tho...maybe they were the right choice all along...

  • Top Hat Not just for decoration. When you see him take it off, don't expect a fluffy rabbit to be pulled out. No, more like a fierce blast of pure energy that's aimed and pointed straight at you! He holds it in position with his stage wires and gives it everything he's got! (Tiro)
