Profile

"Like, there's a whole world out there that I wanna see! ...and hopefully I don't set fire to it." [ EPISODE 2-3 ]

Rose is one of the characters part of the "main trio" in COLORS.

She's an outgoing person able to talk to nearly anyone. She's very hopeful of the world around her, and she's quick to defend anyone she sets her trust in, no matter where they stand morally. Only in matters of life and death will she manifest an unwavering, serious tone, which many consider uncharacteristic... yet, even then, she retains her levity.

Rose differs drastically from her brother, Cyan, despite the two being related. In terms of motives, Rose follows her heart, putting her fate in the hands of the world around her instead of just Iosinet. Despite being consistently labeled as a "fire hazard", she'll try her hardest to see the world with every chance she can get. However, Cyan never leaves her list of priorities. Rose had never been phased by the problems they both face, mainly due to her innocent blind faith, but she's never turned away from an opportunity to help. They've both made sure they're inseparable, even if Rose is a lot louder about it.

Color Synopsis

Rose's color is an "orange-red", aligning with her pyrokinesis: the ability to control fire, as well as create her own. In any fire-related scenario, she can act as a conduit for all the pyrotechnics.

There was a time where she couldn't control this power properly, especially when it came to determining how volatile the fire could be or directing it in ways she wanted. However, after several years of practice (the charred remains of a lot of personal belongings), she's learned most of her ins and outs of this ephemerally destructive power. She never really wanted to weaponize it, but—if she wanted to—it's not exactly hard with such a collateral ability.

Later, Rose obtains the Pyroscythe, a weapon made with living flame, created through tedious studying by Xeno. With it, her mastery over fire practically doubles. After a lot of improvisation, she fully understands the true nature of how chaotic fire can be, spinning and flowing with every swing she gives. There isn't really a "science" or a "method" behind what she does—she just "does".

Appearances

EPISODE 1 — FIRST STEPS
Rose arrives to Reflection Academy with Cyan, unfortunately being rather late. The last thing she wanted to happen on the first day was to be late, going so far as subconsciously leaving a trail of fire. For most of the first day, she was off doing the orientation on her own; however, she eventually returned to Cyan the moment he'd been offered to enter the Mirror Defense Team, and accepted in his advance without hesitation. The moment she read you get to "traverse the world of Chroma," it couldn't be that bad, right? Unfortunately, their first mission took no time going south. But, thanks to her curiosity, she remained blissfully ignorant for most of the encounter, doing her best to move with the same urgency as Cyan and Xeno and watch their backs, which surprisingly worked. Thanks to the exhilaration, she's willing to stick along with the MD Team for as long as she wishes.

EPISODE 2 — A SECOND DANGER
Rose takes part in the venture to Base Termina, following along with Xeno's "plan" to start the mission far earlier than originally planned. She did so impulsively, which was the main reason why Cyan didn't really catch word of it. On the way there, she begins to doubt if it actually is worth leaving Iosinet to go see the rest of Chroma for herself... but, thanks to Xeno, she found the motivation to continue moving forward. While she and Cyan may not have a complete idea of what's stopping them, she was now willing to do whatever it takes, even if she didn't know what the part was. Some of her playfulness still remains; at least, up until the siege on Delta Base. If the way there wasn't enough to remind her what she truly was getting into, it would be their encounter with Tenebris, where the stakes had truly presented themselves, that her energy would be tested.

Fun Facts

  • Rose differs from her brother Cyan, because Rose uses a different surname, "Scarlet", making her actual surname a "compound surname": "Scarlet-Teal". Her technical full name would be "Rose Scarlet-Teal" instead of "Rose Teal."
    • Because of this, "Teal" is either treated as a middle name ("Rose 'Teal' Scarlet") or, more commonly, completely omitted altogether for the sake of brevity ("Rose Scarlet").
    • Not a single person in their known family has the last name "Scarlet". This was purely an aesthetic choice that Rose made.
  • Rose's hair can set on fire.
  • Way before her design was considered finalized, Rose had another trait with her hair where it would glow and sparkle whenever she cheered people on.
    • This was based off of a thing in Splatoon where having a fully charged special weapon would make the character's "hair" sparkle.
  • Rose's design is heavily inspired by Hatsune Miku. Heavily.
  • According to... uh... Tomodachi Life's Personality Calculator, Rose is considered both an Independent Free Spirit and an Outgoing Trendsetter.
    • Considering that Rose has changed less than Cyan personality-wise, this is still somewhat accurate.
