PERSONALITY
Initially presents as over-confident but it quickly becomes apparent that his bold persona is a mask to hide a shitload of insecurities and self-depreciating behavior Oscar will vehemently deny if called out.
Oscar stresses before there’s stress to stress about. He overthinks and over-analyses everything.
Notices small details, Oscar will be able to tell if you moved his stuff a half centimeter out of line. Don't.
In a weird sort of way both these points make him an effective and efficient problem-solver because he's probably planned for very specific problems several times already by the time it actually happens and he's usually first to notice when something's even slightly off.
Struggles to express himself - would rather not talk about emotions at all because emotions are hard.
Yet he's good at getting others talking about difficult/heavy subjects because he understands this.
Strong guilty conscience that can make Oscar very easy to manipulate.
Sometimes finds it hard to stay focused and easily shifts onto autopilot.
Low self-worth; most insecure on how valued he is. Oscar just wants to feel accepted/part of the group but never does. Always feels like an outsider which leads to him being lonely and pining for attention.

- LIKES garlic Puts it in pretty much everything and makes sure it's strong. It's pretty easy to tell when Oscar's cooking.
- DISLIKES Water Often very nervous and jumpy around large bodies of water, not used to feeling of being immersed in water.
- HOBBY IS Kendo Rarely has time for classes but still likes to jump around with a stick and pretending he's a samurai.

HABITS
- GOES TO SMOKING AREA, DOESN'T SMOKE But most of his friends smoke and it's social. Doesn't like the smell so he often sits upwind.
- CAN BE OBSESSIVE If a subject piques Oscar's curiosity/interest enough, he'll strive to learn it in obsessive detail.
- GOOD IN EMERGENCIES Only because he's already overthought and planned for various scenarios several times over.
TRIVIA
- Slowly getting over an embarrassing fear of water, only recently learnt to swim. Still finds the feeling of water lapping around his ankles unnerving.
- It's not unheard of for Oscar to force himself into a group setting when he's drained and really needs to recharge alone, he feels like he'll be forgotten and left out if he doesn't keep up a presence. Often enjoys the winter months where there's no flying because he can shut himself away with no social obligations since it's difficult to catch up with everyone anyway.
- Oscar has a single floor open-plan hut in Aylos, the part of the floating city that extends out into the shallow bay. It's a prefab structure on stilts with a rickety ladder to the door and a balcony overlooking the bay. Oscar has a small canoe which he mainly uses to get around. His hut is powered by hydroelectricity and Oscar has a gas stove to cook on however the electricity is patchy and fails often, the tide isn't fast through that area. Propane is hard to get hold of as well as expensive so Oscar prefers to cook on a grill using wood or coal for fuel.
- Others have tried to talk him into training as a therapist because he's so good at listening and helping people through a crisis but Oscar won't. He enjoys his current job and dealing with too much heavy stuff (especially if related to mental health) can leave Oscar feeling drained and low himself.
- Always tired yet manages to find energy to do stuff and function normally because he’s so used to being tired 24/7. Bitches about it constantly.
- Oscar understands his specialization in obsessive detail and has accumulated a vast wealth of trivial information on various subjects. Has played his air base's version of mastermind (but lost in the Sudden Death round).
- Tone deaf; finds music to be a jarring irritant. More agreeable to soft classical music if music absolutely must be played.
- Enjoys researching WW1 and WW2 by reading a mix of history books, biographies and novels of both periods. It's such a different era to what Oscar lives in that he finds it fascinating in a sometimes morbid sort of way; he can't help wonder how he'd of reacted to some of those situations wartime soldiers, sailors and airmen had to deal with.
