Clothing Style

Slamen wears a black and dark green striped sleeveless shirt with black pants and dark brown leather boots. He wears a dark brown leather belt around his waist that has a green sash hanging from it, two belts around his left thigh that act as makeshift knife sheaths, and multiple belts around his boots (he claims they're all belts from Imperial Guards he's stolen the pants off of). On his left arm he wears a long black glove with green lining at the top, which only partially covers the scars on his upper arm. On his right hand he wears a short black glove and multiple brown and black straps up and down his arm. Each strap is imbued with Saint Avaline's magic, which helps strengthen the seal on his arm. Along with this he wears a cloak with a green outside and black inside, although it is reversible. He tends to wear the green side outside, and while it does have a hood he doesn't really use it. He always wears a green head wrap that trails behind him while in public, mostly to hide the beads strung into his hair.

Personality

Slamen is a cunning and calculating young man that is a master at stealth and thievery. He's known for being a clever thief that is unimaginably difficult to catch, and the few times he has been caught he's never been held long enough to face any consequences. He's highly resourceful and observant so he can come up with escape routes on the fly with ease, and his movements are always quick, silent, and usually wouldn't be noticed by anyone as long as he doesn't make a point to gloat about it. Slamen is incredibly flippant and sarcastic, and his snark-setting has no off switch. He can be rather rude with how irreverent and blunt he can be, but he always seems to be chipper and in high spirits even when in a pickle. Slamen is a very skilled actor and can use his charisma and charms to manipulate the unwary. He's a rather two faced individual considering his line of work, and he has no qualms with breaking laws, manipulating others, and lying to achieve his goals. He proves to be a rather untrustworthy man, and he in turn does not trust easily either. He only seems to be genuine and loyal to Saint Avaline's cause and his own brother.

Slamen is a rather eccentric and somewhat annoying person to get along with if you are "fortunate" enough to become his ally. He tends to refer to his eccentric quirks as him just being "whimsical," and he very much likes to bother people with his whims if he is given any authority over them. He treats very casual tasks such as organizing supplies or going to the market with drill sergeant intensity, although he usually just does that to annoy whoever he has authority over, and he treats many serious situations very casually and prefers to keep things very low stress (for himself; he doesn't care if everyone else is stressed). He tends to seem rather backwards and his plans usually appear to be more inconvenient than anything, but Slamen always plans far in advance and shouldn't be dismissed as incompetent by any means. Despite his knack as a tactician and his ability to keep even a large caravan completely in order with proper inventory, Slamen is not always the best team player in combat. He is capable of cooperating with others, but he usually only works with people he can trust fully, which are very few. Otherwise he takes on challenges on his own terms and will take any opportunity he has, even if he inconveniences his own team mates. He's not heartless enough to completely throw anyone under the bus though, so he usually only does this when working with people whom he knows can handles themselves long enough for him to pickpocket every enemy within reach before actually helping them.

Toward his younger brother, Lester, Slamen becomes more sincere and never gives him any of his usual sass. He also takes situations far more seriously if his brother is involved. Slamen has always been rather protective of his younger brother, and ever since their hometown was destroyed by the Empire (which caused him to mistakenly think Lester had been killed) he has held a deep loathing for the Empire and any of their allied forces. Slamen used his hatred to fuel himself while aiding Saint Avaline, and ever since reuniting with Lester he has gained even more resolve to keep from ever losing him again. His overprotective nature around Lester and complete absence of his trademark snark or deceit seems very unlike him to anyone that doesn't know him enough, and although Slamen would never put himself at direct risk for anyone else on the battlefield (probably not even Saint Avaline), he would take any risk to keep Lester from harm.

Backstory

Slamen grew up with his parents and two siblings within the large city called the Walled Empirea. He and his older sister were always curious about what the world beyond the wall was like, but leaving was forbidden. Their father was a commander of the wall defense, and he'd chastise them when they often attempted to sneak out or catch glimpses of the outside when traders and other incoming and outgoing caravans passed through the gates. However, one day his sister disappeared while sneaking into the wall.

Seven years passed, but Slamen could find no trace of his sister. His mother had since died of illness, making Slamen take responsibility for caring for his younger brother, Lester. Slamen was still curious about the wall and the fate of his sister, and he sneaked into the wall. Within the fortress-like walls, he found his sister imprisoned and on the verge of death. He attempted to free her, but she implored him not to before dying.

Slamen's father then found him in her cell, but upon trying to give him an explanation, Slamen branded him a murderer and fled from him in terror. His father chased him, begging him to stop, and Slamen raced out of the Empirea's wall into the outside world. Upon leaving, the Demon of the Walled Empirea attacked Slamen, causing him to fall from a cliffside into the river below. Slamen later awoke in Tediritema under the care of Saint Avaline. The demon had apparently inhabited his sister's body when she found a way out of the wall seven years ago, and her father kept her imprisoned to prevent the demon from causing trouble. However, when she died, the demon was freed and claimed the next person to leave the walls as its new host.

Saint Avaline placed a seal on Slamen to restrain the demon inside him, and Slamen vowed to serve him out of gratitude. After a few months, Slamen returned home for Lester, but he found the city destroyed by the Empire. Although devastated by the loss, he continued his work as an agent of Saint Avaline, gathering intel, stealing plans and artifacts, and dodging the law with his hatred for the Empire fueling him.
