Personality
An open-minded and progressive intellectual, Marcel is wise beyond his years given his unusual upbringing. He is passionate about feeding good back into the world to counter the bad, and is always open to supporting others in their growth. He is a harsh teacher as he strongly believes in building resilience and has a keen eye for seeing through superficial intentions. He also has high tolerance for most things besides general disrespect and will call it out. He values honesty, but will stand by omitting information for the greater good. He is warm and encourages open displays of affection as he knows how short life may be from his experiences.

Story Summary
Being of half [grey people] and human descent, Marcel had an unconventional upbringing that exposed him to the best and worst of people. As a result, he grew up rather progressive and open-minded much to the dismay of the conservative fields he went on to enter later. Next to no [grey people] would mingle with humans nor did humans want anything to do with them, yet he was both at once and was subject to childhood bullying. His parents loved each other dearly, showing the possibility to live together in a positive way and cultivating an idealism that led to many different endeavours to encourage inclusivity and accessibility to 'others'.
As his immune system was stronger than those of pure [grey people] blood, he contracted with a demon much later and continues to age, albeit at a much slower rate than an average human. Upon his first near-death sickness, he contracted with a death demon, becoming a strong connector between the living and dead, further reinforcing his view that regardless of race, everyone was essentially the same.
He pursued medicine, working what seemed like magic in helping patients in palliative care find peace in death. At times, he would receive angry responses in surrounding people's grief, which left negative impressions on his reputation. He understood the effects of grief so steeled himself against the accusations of malpractice and continued to work in his own ways.
He then met a young woman, a distant royal, and fell in love with her. After many years into their relationship, he proposed to her only to discover the first symptoms of an emerging disease that he knew did not yet have a known cure or treatment. In desperation, for many years he researched and reached out for as much data as possible to find something to save his partner. But she inevitably died, leaving him distraught. Grieving and learning to accustom himself to life without her, he abandoned his research.
Because a formal system caused so much problem for his reputation, he additionally acts outside of the system out of his own will to bring back new perspectives and approaches to the conservative medical system regarding [grey people] health and bridge the gap in knowledge. After much travelling, he met a family among the [grey people] whose child was struggling with a physical condition that the medical system was ill-equipped to treat. The young boy, Feliks, required ongoing treatment and monitoring which was limited due to the rarity of the conditions in [grey people]. Being determined to help, Marcel actively consulted other specialists and became an important part of this family's life. He assisted with Feliks' contracting ritual and mentored the boy during the transition. However, when Feliks' parents were killed in a freak accident, Marcel suddenly lost contact with the boy. After many months of searching, he had learnt of Felik's whereabouts and became Feliks' acting guardian and father figure.
Through his unlikely networks, he heard that a young boy, a hidden prince, from his partner's family had been orphaned after a devastating massacre of the royal household and offered his assistance. He relocated with Feliks, took the un-cooperative prince, Chester, under his wing and set about rebuilding what remained of the ravaged household. Since then, he has trained the prince with the sword and proven himself to be quite a tough but loving mentor to both List and Chester.
