Born as Shellkit in the middle of a turbulent time for BloomClan, she started life with a poorly dealt paw. Her mother, Sweetwhisper, had only wanted one kitten truthfully so when a second kit came out of her, she decided that she didn't like her from the start. Naming her Shellkit for the "egg shell that the fluttering bird leaves behind" while her sister, Flutterkit, was her darling little bird. Sweetwhisper wasn't fit to be a parent, only wanting to become one for the attention and how she could make things "interesting" so to speak. Using Cicadasun's decline to hide away her negative treatment of Shellkit, making the kitten act out only to play the victim, using everyone's distraction to her advantage.

Often times Shellkit would be kicked out of the nest she was suppose to share with her mother and sister. This resulted in her points becoming darker than her sister and mother's points.

apprenticeship

Not much changed when she was made into an apprentice, everyone was still too caught up with Cicadasun's decline later Dragonsun's rise once Cicadasun met their demise. Apprenticed to Whistlenose as it was thought his calmer nature would truly help her, his pressence didn't solve the man issues which was the pressence of her mother. Sweetwhisper's continued abuse earned Shellpaw was seemed to be a sour reputation as she continued to act out and be made out to be a sort of rotten twin between the two sisters. Often times Sweetwhisper would goad Shellpaw into an angry fit and then convince cats around her that Shellpaw was the source, feeding into Sweetwhisper's endless desire for attention and seeing her daughters as toys to have fun with due to the built up narrative.

One day, Shellpaw had a burst of confidence and wanted to talk about Sweetwhisper about something that had been on her mind for awhile only to have Sweetwhisper take over the conversation to tell her and Flutterpaw she was going to talk to Dragonsun about giving them the same suffix to forever bound them together... While Shellpaw had been wanting to admit that she loathed the named Shellpaw and wished to change it. While this shared suffix was suppose to bond them, it did just not in the way that Sweetwhisper intended as Flutterpaw had loathed being the pampered child, the two actually talking after this Fluttercup encouraging Shellpaw to actually talk about these things despite her fears.

Despite some reservations she did eventually break and talk to Whistlenose. Any fears that he liked Sweetwhisper better were quelled and he managed to help her land on the name "Flicker" and bring her to confirm this with Dragonsun, leaving her suffix up to him... Although she left unsure how this all would go, it felt nice to know her mentor was actually on her side.

It went about as well as expected, Sweetwhisper exploded hearing that her daughters' names were not the ones she intended, Flickerwings having and entirely new name being want stoked her anger most of all. Her venmonous words spat towards the leader and her daughters for not bending to her will ended with her prefix being revoked, now known as "Whisper" her mother was exiled and Flicker and Flutter were left to deal with the aftermath. Flickerwings enjoyed no longer having to worry about their mother, but at the same time with Whisper gone, Flickerwings had nothing to be angry about and felt as if the one thing she really had was gone. Who even was Flickerwings? She had built so much up based on her anger not having it anymore was strange...

At first it seemed that Flickerwings was finally beginning to make steps towards a better future once Lioneye's party came to BloomClan, Whistlenose gifting her with a bandanna and the fact she was branching out and talking to a couple more cats like Pumpkinfeather and Midgeleaf, that momentum didn't last forever. In fact it crashed down harder than it ever had before, as while out for a solo walk Whisper attacked Flickerwings. Whisper put all the blame for her ruined life on Flicker, violently shredding into her with her claws. When Flickerwings took too long to come back Whistlenose, Charm and Fluttercup set out to find her only to arrive just in time to see Flickerwings spy an opening and sink her teeth into Whisper's throat, killing her. With a sliced open face, cuts at her sides and a worrying tear at her throat Flickerwings was brought back home and survived her injuries only to be left with even less idea of who she is and what to do with herself than before as an intense guilt from killing her own mother festered and bloomed despite others saying it had to be done and she wasn't wrong for protecting herself.

Flickerwings regressed more into herself, avoiding most cats feeling like she ruined her sister's life as she saw the haunted look Fluttercup held that day and that she disappointed Whistlenose by having his gift destroyed. She sees herself as a monster, believing her mother to have been right about her as it seemed she just can't manage to be any good at all even without her in her life. Flickerwings believes that she does not have any friends in the clan, now that Fluttercup is with Butterflyblush that even her bond with her sister is holding her back more than anything good. Even the rise of her mentor as a mediator seems to have done little to pull her out of this new shell as she feels too guilty to talk to him especially now as she contemplates going back to her old name due to her poor view of herself.

Yet despite this poor view, Flickerwings was called upon by a member of the Seelie Court along with five other cats. Flareblitz, Snailstep, Valerianmist, Frostedspring and Songbird off her suggestion they name the being "Stellartwist" yet any fuzzy feelings are dampened by Flickerwings detatchment to these cats. All of them older and in much better positions than she is she can't find herself to jump into a friendship especially as most of their talks seem to be focused on this while she barely knows them at all... In a form of semi-good news, Flickerwings has recently stopped denying that she was intentionally picked by Stellartwist for this role, after her attempt to assist Lilacpaw went south due to the young cats venomous words she was stopped from leaving the clans by a sprout of Newleaf in the middle of an intense Leafbare storm and she could feel Stellartwist with her. While she still doesn't know what to make of her fellow petals or any of her clanmates for that matter, slowly perhaps is she accepting that Stellartwist wants her even if she doesn't get why.
