Former Unit 11 Commander, Jared Pence was one of the few “good” commanders that kept their nose out of politics and cared for their men above all else. An incredibly skilled tactician, promising fighter, selfless person and medic with field skills comparable to Samuel Eulford, Jared had everything going well for him. Most of all though, he was in love with his companion since before the apocalypse, Jasmine. As we know though, all is not well in this decaying world and on one fateful patrol, he was ambushed. A quarter of his unit was strung up by ropes in the forest and Jasmine was killed by Jeremiah, who brutalized Jasmine and mutilated Jared .Jared was left as the sole survivor, a broken commander and a broken man who threw his potential after as a consequence of the horrors he experienced.

Fun Facts:

• He wields a scythe / sickle (changes shape) that can grow and manipulate plants
• Originally just a "strong hobby", once introduced to his weapon and the death of his partner, Jared rapidly became the best botanist left alive post apocalypse 
• He's honestly codependent and regularly comiserates with Alex
• Not so "fun" but his eye behind the eyepatch is entirely functional, it is just non-removable and the eye of his dead girlfriend - thus his heterochromia. He wears the eye patch for himself
