Another angel who, like Aster; worked very closely with the leader of Aeris and was seen almost always right by the leader's side. Or at least that was until he wasn't. No one knows why he was demoted but he was often seen still working hard and even overworking himself to get back up in the ranks but it never worked. Some say he was kidnapped, others say he left because he was fed up with trying to get his place back, but none of that is true. He left yes, but not because he wanted to. He didn't have a choice.

He's just here to 'keep an eye on things', he keeps telling himself, but he's beginning to actually enjoy being around these guys. Maybe it would be good to actually befriend them.

Magic/Abilities

Hard light constructs; he has the ability to create temporary items out of light. Lucius has mainly made weapons out of this magic. His weapon of choice is a lance so that's what he usually makes. He can make the item go away or over time it will dissipate and vanish on it's own. He can also create living things out of light but isn't aware of this till later on. He can use the magic to even create a temporary light source but doesn't do so often as he can see fine in the dark; although with other people he will do it to help them see better.

The strength of the item and how long it lasts all depends on the light in the area he's in. In areas with low light levels or darkness, Lucius's ability to draw upon light energy for creating the constructs might be limited. As a result, the constructs formed in these conditions can be weaker and have a higher chance of dissapearing more quickly. They lack in strength and durability compared to constructs created in well-lit environments. In cases like these, he can draw out energy to compensate for the lack of external light sources. This process involves channeling his own magical energy into the constructs, infusing them with additional strength and durability, but it will drain him quicker and much more than normal.
Due to the energy drain and the potential consequences, Lucius avoids using this technique unless absolutely necessary.

Weaknesses

He can get very snappy and irritable at times, it could be the result of him trying to repress his emotions but he's trying to work on it. He doesn't like getting upset but sometimes can't help it.

He was taught that it was a bad thing to be vulnerable and let your guard down, and has had that ingrained in his head to this day still. Believes it only makes him get hurt more so he just keeps it to himself, he can't show he's weak or he'll just get hurt again. He doesn't understand how the others can do it, yet...he wishes he could do it too but he just can't bring himself to. In high-stress situations or when faced with unexpected challenges, Lucius sometimes act impulsively, making rash decisions without fully considering the consequences and letting his emotions get the best of him.

Habits

Overworking himself. He tries so hard to prove himself to others that he’ll get to a point where he can and will overdo it, thus overworking himself. Has a habit of seeking solitude and spending time alone, often finding solace in independent activities. Relies heavily on himself, hesitant to ask for help or delegate tasks to others, as he feels more comfortable taking matters into his own hands. He has a habit of talking in his sleep...no one knows if the things he's said are true though.

Story

"I wasn't going to tag along, but it crossed my mind that I didn't have a choice in that moment."

Lucius went on with his daily tasks, doing the same things. It was all so pointless, but still, he didn't want to believe it. Then he went against his orders and caught a demon who was trespassing; there was no one else around, so surely it would be fine if he did. He caught her and turned her in, and he was dismissed without a word. It was always like that.

Later that night, he checked back on her cell when he heard a commotion and was surprised to see Aster there as well. They talked, and she convinced him to let the two of them go. Of course he did; he couldn't say no.

As he was leaving, the demon spoke to him, offering him the chance to join them. He could care less, and everything in his mind was telling him not to, that this demon couldn't be trusted. But that was all the more reason he should go with them; what if she was a threat? He went to his quarters to think things over, and without much choice, he came back to them and accepted the request.

It was his job to keep an eye on her, and on things.

Nothing seemed to be working in spite of his efforts, yet he persisted in working hard as usual. One of the times he stayed up all night to keep watch, he came across...a thief? He didn’t know what their business was in the palace but it couldn’t have been good. The thief was apprehended by Lucius before they could flee, but they managed to persuade him to release them. He reluctantly agreed, but he made a threat to turn them in if he caught them again. The thief agreed and took off.

Within a couple of weeks, the thief returned to the palace and Lucius caught him again. The thief attempted to escape but it was no use, Lucius warned them of the consequences yet they didn’t listen. Then it dawned on him that perhaps this was the solution; he had grown desperate to regain his rank. After all, the thief did claim that they had intel on the leader, making him a serious threat to her.

He turned them in and they were exiled a couple days later. He did what was right but...it didn't feel right to him anymore. The person's face as their wings were removed, their pleads as she approached them...

Nonetheless, it didn't work out like Lucius had hoped; he wasn't promoted and stayed the same, nothing changed. His efforts really were pointless, She would never be satisfied and his life went on the same.

When doing a brief patrol in the castle late at night, his curiosity got the better of him. He decided to investigate after noticing light shining through a door that was just slightly ajar as he was walking down the hallways. He peered inside and was horrified to see two recognized faces there, along with another person he didn't recognize. She looked at him, and he swiftly turned and walked away. He pretended nothing had happened the following day, so perhaps She hadn't noticed him. Nonetheless, it didn't stop him from developing paranoia about Her and frequently keeping a careful eye when he could.

He was shocked to learn that he had been demoted—and not just one rank, all the way down. He begged to keep his rank but was simply informed that he wasn't deserving of it and that he needed to put in more effort. So he did.

He started working nonstop to the point of overworking himself, he wanted to be seen as worthy yet it was never enough for the leader. And as if to pour salt in the wound, Aster was restricted from speaking with him. Lucius didn’t know about this order, but he quickly noticed when Aster started to just flat-out ignore him when he tried to speak with her. This only motivated him more to get his rank back, maybe he could get his friend back as well.

He doesn't recall much of his early years before meeting Celeste, but what he does remember is that he has no idea who his family is or what happened to them because he was so young at the time. He didn’t seem bothered by the idea of not having parents, but trying to live without their support was difficult for him as a child. It didn’t help that Lucius was often bullied for his appearance and learned quickly that people didn’t like him. He grew weary of people as those who appeared friendly still treated him wrongly, he didn’t feel there was anyone he could trust. Often it was different kids who picked on him but there was a small handful who seemed to favor having him as their target. One day he was approached by a woman by the name of Celeste, she offered to provide him with a home which he accepted.

Upon arriving, he discovered that she was a part of the royal family and was greeted by the King and Queen themselves. After settling in, it didn’t take long for him to be approached by another child around his age, she introduced herself as Aster and the two struck up a conversation. The two of them got along quickly and eventually grew close together, becoming inseparable. Lucius finally felt like he had a real friend and was the happiest he had been in a long time.

Lucius had already lived in the palace for a good couple of years and had felt glad to be this lucky, everything had seemed to lift up for him. But this was eventually taken away when the King and Queen were announced dead. It was so sudden, yet no one could figure out why. Nonetheless, the kingdom had to move on, and so it did; Celeste took over the throne and ruled.

Things started to change, Celeste seemed to change, and he and Aster were thrown into training so suddenly. Things were fine, sure the training was hard, but he got through it as he did with most things. He and Aster were still good friends, and despite what happened, things seemed to be okay for the time being. Things started to seem…off to him; Celeste continued to change to the point she was nothing like he knew her to be before. Aster started to forget things and seemed to become more distant. But that was fine, maybe she was just coping, it didn’t mean anything.

Then he ruined it for himself.

Relationships

Kenji

"I really didn't think I would have gotten attached to him as much as I did. It was...unexpected but I don't hate it. Sometimes he likes to bring me to his favorite spots and it makes me happy to have him share that with me."

Lucius found Kenji to be annoying at first but as the two get closer he see's that there's more to him than just that. He considers Kenji to be a very good friend and pretends to not like his company but in reality he does, and Kenji knows this. He finds Lucius to be interesting and likes hanging out with him; sometimes while the angel is just sitting reading, Kenji can be found seated next to him looking over at the book as well.

Soren

"I feel bad for disliking him so much at first, I must've been bothersome acting like that towards them, but my feelings have changed and I like them, a lot. Soren is a very comforting person, being in their presence feels like getting a weight lifted off of my shoulders, there's just something about him."

Lucius didn't know how he felt about Soren at first, but by the way he acted towards them, it seemed like hatred of some sort; Lucius was probably just suspicious of them at first because they were exiled from Aeris. Over time the two did grow to be close thankfully :) They both have similar interests and bonded over them. Lucius finds Soren to be someone that he can vent and rant to about things, and vice-versa. Being in their presence brings him comfort.

Layla

"I didn't trust her but that's how I was with the others, and just like with them, that feeling vanished over time. I actually like talking with her, and our 'arguments' are actually entertaining to me. I think it's nice to share this type of humor with someone. I do worry about her, but I care and try to help her, even if it's just a little bit. Don't tell her I said that though, I wouldn't hear the end of it."

Lucius was very suspicious of Layla in the beginning and didn't trust her around Aster, eventually the two would hang out and that feeling went away. She likes to bother Lucius and the two often bicker but it's rarely ever meant to be taken seriously. The two of them are pretty close and enjoy talking with each other and spending time, even if Lucius tries to deny it.

Aster

"We were close friends when we were younger, but things just seemed to change after her parents died and things were never the same between us. She seems a bit distant when I talk to her but there's progress at least."

Lucius has known Aster since they were younger. Lucius was a very shy kid and she helped him to not be as shy anymore. As a kid, Lucius would often get bullied by other kids for his appearance and Aster would stand up for him. He appreciates it till this day and it's part of the reason he's overprotective of her; he doesn't want her to get hurt like he did. Sadly, the two would be separated at one point and didn't speak to the other for years. After Aster and Lucius escape with Layla they start talking a bit but its honestly just short responses from Aster. Lucius just wants to become friends again and talk to her, he misses it so much.

Oras

"I remember seeing Oras around after Celeste became ruler, she was very nice and I saw her as an older sister. She was very understanding to me and Aster and just seemed to care about us a lot. She talked to me after I got demoted but all of a sudden just stopped, I don't know what happened but I hope I can speak to her at least one more time."

Oras would watch over him and Aster from time to time but eventually grew close with the two and they viewed her as an older sibling. Lucius was close with her and was always happy when she would spend time with them, taking them out to the towns to walk around and such, it was always nice.

Celeste

"I don't know what's up with her, but ever since it happened she just feels like a different person."

He hates her. He's seen the things she's done and despises her for it, he knows what she's able to do and just watches it happen and hates that he can't do anything about it. She would constantly threaten Lucius whenever he found out things about her, often threatening to drag Aster into it, to which Lucius would keep quiet for her sake. Lucius remembers when she used to be nicer, she was almost like a mother to him but then things suddenly changed and she was a whole different person, was it all fake?
