The Grand Tourney is held every three year, an event held in Cathal's iconic coliseum. Fighters from all parts of the city come and participate in the Tourney for a chance to become rewarded with the title of Champion.

But its current Champion, he's has yet to give up his title. He's retained the Champion title since he was royally given this name by the King himself, but even if a fighter could try... Niall is unstoppable each time the Tourney happens. Yet no one is against it; Siegfried is a benevolent general who is well loved by all people - especially among the outer circle. Among citizens that live in the impoverished...

He is a hero.

Strengths

Siegfried went through vigorous training, both in and out of the military. His fighting prowess and talents makes him an unstoppable fighter. And he will not stop training. A benevolent warrior at heart, Siegfried is extremely adaptive to whatever weapon he is holding. From swords and shields, spears, and even the bow - Siegfried excels in them all.

Cathal's social class is depending on how far one lives from the center. Center of the Kingdom is the Royal Castle and thus those living among the border of the City are poor. That being said, Siegfried is born around the borders, living off poorly with his family. He values littles with money and often gives it away to charity and to help the need. Kindness is always on Siegfried's mind.

He worked his way up to General and works alongside Saurin, one of the commanders in the Army. Being Champion of Cathal gives him significant allowance and influence around the city.

Flaws

Siegfred kindness can be pushed to where one can take advantage over it. Hence he always has a friend with more common sense than him.

Niall is only human, with no gifted magical abilities either. Without Saurin by him, he cannot protect himself from magic and exposed to the harshest effects if he is hit by it.

Skills & Abilities

The Champion of Cathal
Even if he didn't partake in the Grand Tourney, the King of Cathal gave him the title as his wish. Thus, with the title, he wanted to keep it to make a difference. Overtime he became a legendary fighter - and rarely anyone has recognized an adaptable fighter like Niall.

Siegfried is a master of all sorts of weapons only because he's spent years training with each and anyone of them. This is rather beneficial on his end as he can fight with anything he can get his hands on.

Knight & Magic (With Saurin)
With Saurin's magical abilities, he is absolutely unstoppable. With his lover by his side, Saurin will focus on what Siegfried lacks during combat - most especially when it comes to defending himself with magics. Ardal will also summon a weapon embedded with an element that he conjures out, giving Siegfried an even more advantage over the enemy.

Gift of the Gods
Every named Champion is given one magical ability through the help of the crystal from the main Kingdom's source. However it is chosen at random for every individual. Many consider the gift of "floating" as a stupid gift, but Siegfried is still appreciative of this newfound ability. He's adapted to it very quickly, being able to fly around the city with his birds as he pleases. And this also give him some combative advantages over his opponent.

Trivia

  • Siegfried is currently in a relationship with Saurin
    > Siegfried pretends to not realize Saurin's short lifespan for Saurin's sake. However, he knows quite well even if no one ever told him about it.
    > The two of them fight together so often that's it's almost impossible to even touch either of them during combat.
  • Elabelle's bodyguard, and one of her closest and trusted companions.
    > Though loyal to the Royal family, he seems more dedicated and loyal to Elabelle the most; believing that she's capable of ruling the Kingdom after her father. Next to Saurin and Roy, Siegfried is basically her greatest supporter.
  • He is Bernard's favorite drinking buddy
    > Ser Valence is also Siegfried's superior when the both of them were in the Royal Army together.
  • His home is in the castle, in one of it's many towers; it consists of four floors (from first floor to fourth): Personal combat room, Study/Office floor, Private Chambers, and personal Aviary.
  • There is one and only can be one (living) crowned Champion and will receive a gift from the Divines.

  • Grand Tourney and its was decided that Niall's success in slaying the hoard's dragon leader would be the deciding factor to who becomes Champion.
    > As for Siegfried's gift, he was given the ability to float - which was very useful to his combat skills.
    > TL;DR: Siegfriend can float. He became champion and therefore is the only non-mage that can be able to obtain any magical powers, that isn't part of the royal family.
  • He adores birds -  Siegfried owns an aviary full of them and often "flies" with them outside.
    > He has a hobby of collecting and caring for different species of birds found around the city.
    > His favorite bird is a roaming large hawk with significantly red eyes. The bird leaves the aviary as it pleases but always comes to see him during the night evening almost every day.
  • As a Champion and a general, he has a large collection of weapons he keeps in his combat room.
    > He's practically a master of almost all of the weapons he holds in the room.
  • His other hobby is hunting and wrestling bears.
  • Despite his overly positive, pure, and cheery personality, it's recommended that you don't try to hurt him without having to fight him first.
  • He's easily flustered, it obviously shows when he's among his friends.

Summary

5047642_lV8YmgxY6xbUK3a.png

Born in poverty in the circular, Grand City of Cathal, Siegfried believed that everyone should deserve a better life. With no father, a younger sister and an ill mother, Siegfried had no choice but to be the man to take care of his family. Once his father had passed, the young boy had no choice but to drop out of academy to search for work in order to feed his mother and sibling. Of course, his childhood was proven difficult due to many unfortunate events of an impoverish child - he was bullied, his kindness would be taken advantage of, and he'd gotten into many fights before and after he'd dropped out of a public academy. His soft heart often strove him to take action and protected the weak.

Life was tough for Siegfried but his sister had grown as strong as he. His sister, Saira believed that she and their ill mother would still be able to live even when the older brother had the chance to leave - thus allowed Siegfried to achieve his dream by joining the Cathal's military. He joined the military with a poor background (many citizens of Cathal that were drafted consisted of middle and high class), which he had no benefits to him and many of privates often teased him. However, his willingness took him far enough until he was allowed to fight on battlegrounds. And with such vigor and confidence, many experiences of fighting since he was young gave him the advantage in combat. Thus many of the battles he participated in often lead to victory. Yet, his background hindered him from being in the spotlight in any of his victories - yet he didn't mind but he still wished that his impoverished status didn't lead him into dust.

Until at one point where danger approached their city during Grand Tourney; Siegfried and the army were forced into the battlefield almost unprepared when a sudden invasion of dragons impeded the city. Siegfried was first to act first, forcing his way into the front lines in order to protect his family. An odd, fortunate event, Siegfried finds himself finding it's commanding pack leader and fought with it head on. And with success, he had managed to survive the hoard before they've retreated - along with successfully defending the city and his family with his own hands. Overnight he became famous for his victory throughout all of Cathal and then crowned Champion of Cathal before he had reached adulthood.

Siegfried indulged himself a little in his fame and good fortune, often using it to help any charities towards the poverty-stricken part of the city. And there was no worries of his mother and daughter, who eventually is now living in a peaceful manor in a well-deserved high class society. Saira currently works as a doctor, while their mother is currently healthy and happily retired from any labor. However, Siegfried doesn't take too much advantages of his title unless he believes it's for benevolent purposes, and he still continues to become part of the military. With his new title and class, he manages to work his way up as the general of the whole Cathal army. This impressive feat also allows him to be automatically part of the royal guard, now living in the same castle of the king and his royal family.

The general is fairly young, just barely in his twenties when he moved into the Castle. And with no threats outside of their kingdom, the King had decided that it was best that the Champion would be suited to guard his only child inside and out of the castle vicinity. From there, Siegfried eventually befriends the young, preteen princess that goes by Elabelle, a proper, well-mannered tomboy with a heart of steel and an impressive vigor for such a small body. Siegfried spent most of his time with her in the castle doing weapons training and then hunting for bears and ogres in forests just outside of the kingdom.
At a point she and Siegfried and eventually grows older and mature. Niall becomes fond of Elabelle and hopes that he could take her hand in marriage before anyone else could. However, the king has already decided that another King from another Kingdom will take her hand in marriage. As he was eventually rejected, he meets Saurin Ardal (who also attempted to take the Princess's hand in marriage) by the time he manages to becomes the head of the Magic College Council. And to the Champion's surprise, he and the mage get along quite well - and occasionally they've progressed further even with Elabelle's acknowledgement.

Years later, with their unison, their teamwork and leadership had lead their city in peace and stable for a long period.

Cathal: the Golden Era

Siegfried was hesitant, as Saurin's constant attempt of courting the general never seemed to end. He never had feelings for a man, let alone a frivolous and promiscuous as Ardal. The synergy between their combat styles had also existed with their personal relationships among each other, Niall decided that he'd wanted to take his love to the next level.

Yet Saurin never expected such a decision and had a completely different view. He rejected Siegfried's love without hesitation and left Siegfried with a mix of sadness and confusion. The both of them had refused to see each other for a long period of time.
Without the mage's help, Siegfried was badly injured in one of the battles among Cathal's expeditions and almost died in the process. After being sent back to the Capital, he locked himself away for days in his home, frustrated and in pain. Niall preferred the company of his birds rather than his peers or the citizens.

The Champion understood of his lover's case, as it made sense that someone with so much power had a flaw. Understanding that the magic he holds is draining the body that maintains all that power, Saurin wouldn't live long to see his empire grow alongside the love of his life. But he cannot tolerate the fact that Saurin will have to die while being alone, Siegfried demands that he'll remain by his side until the day he finally passes hoping that the mage will be happy enough.

The great Litarian adventure

Siegfried is happy for Elabelle who has born both Allegro and young En. Happily watching alongside Saurin, who somehow manages to live through his life expectancy, he continues to be Elabelle's royal guard. While he keeps her company since Roy's disappearance, he gladly offers to train her two sons. He's disheartened to hear Allegro's sudden death, and so he was willing to leave the city to head to En's aid. Yet he was reminded that Niall still has responsibilities in Cathal, making it impossible for the man to leave his home. Luckily, Elabelle has kept the Conqueror in contact.

Saurin

[ Lover ]

Saurin is flirtatious as he is powerful. But never did he find him annoying like the other men around the two of them. Sure, he was definitely in the way at first when he once had feelings for the Princess, but in the end... he's now appreciative of it - otherwise he wouldn't have been in love with Saurin now. Siegfried is now one of the only people that knows of Saurin's supposed life expectancy. But when Saurin accepted that he'll die (and he'll die alone), Siegfried wouldn't let the mind die in such a sad way.

Elabelle

[ Best Friend ]

Unlike Saurin, Siegfried met Elabelle soon after he was made Champion. Her kindness and enjoyment for fighting made her fall in love with her (temporarily) but it didn't last so long. In the end, Niall is a royal follower to Elabelle but also a close friend. And with that, it's his sole reason to protect her if harm ever comes to her.
