Magic is perhaps Cathal's strongest suits. Those born blessed with magic are carefully trained to hone their abilities. Most mages are often found among higher-class citizens, many noble houses often value their magic-wielding members because of their access to the College of Magic and the potential seat to the Kingdom's government.
The House of Ardal is one of these noble families. For centuries the Ardal family believed they are worth something if each member had an important title and significance to the Kingdom. The older generation have now believed they have finally discovered their greatest.

Saurin Astral Ardal. first and only son of Sevrin and Cathleen Ardal. He's perhaps one of Cathal's most popular figures next to the Royal family. He successfully gains a seat as the next generation's royal advisor and one of highest leading commanders of the Cathal military.

Everyone claims that Saurin is the strongest mage in the Kingdom. He is unrivaled and capable of wielding the most powerful forms of magic. Where a hundred or thousand of mages are needed to perform one spell, Saurin can do it with just his own individual.

He's the kind of man to enjoy life while trying to keep his home together. But as perfect as what others believe he is, Saurin has a weakness that he refuses to share with others.

Strengths

As mentioned before, he is an unrivaled mage if not considered the most powerful. Saurin can perform all sorts of magics, even the most difficult ones. When there are spells where magic needs to be combined and shared, Ardal has the capability to do it in one (himself). The amount of power he can hold as a mage is dangerous and completely unfit for humans, unfortunately Saurin is just a human.

As someone whose family only cares about their reputation and titles, Saurin really has no choice but to become popular with many. He's no stranger when it comes to holding parties in his tower. If anything, this sociable man would have parties everyday.

Though one of his titles is Royal Advisor and Grand Councilor, he will not be granted the seat until the Princess is given the crown to rule. Until then, he still holds particular advantage over the political meetings.

There are more than one Commanders among the Cathal militarySaurin is one of the higher ranking ones, and leads a pack of their strongest mages.

Flaws

Handsome and charming as what many claim him to be, if one gets to know Saurin, he's actually perverted in nature. Sex is constantly on his mind and a few whacks to his head would be one of the only times he can talk without his dick in his hand.

As mentioned, the amount of power Saurin can hold is realistically unfit for a human. In trade for the power, Saurin is inevitably dyingEven at thirty years old, Saurin has to rely on the red crystal he wears as an earring in order to help channel the spells appropriately, otherwise his body will weaken gravely and die shortly after. Performing the most powerful spells (especially ones that are meant to be performed by multiple people), Saurin's body will give out and will be knocked out for hours (or even days).

Skills & Abilities

Rain of Blades
This spell is Saurin's signature. With enough time, Ardal has the capability of summoning from thousands to millions of phantom-like blades (majority taking in the form of swords) in the air and casting them down to his enemies. However, if not properly and carefully prepared, there will be massive casualties on both sides.

The Rain of Blades can also be in the form in a much smaller scale, but it's inconvenient compared to his other spells.

Knight & Magic (With Siegfried)
Him and Siegfried are constantly fighting by one another, and it's natural for them to combine their combative abilities. Siegfried will wield whatever weapon Saurin will summon for him, allowing the mage the freedom to augment whatever spells onto the weapon. Saurin is not necessary a fighter, so he often has to rely on Siegfried to fight for him as long as he's given a weapon. It's also a big plus for Siegfried to distract his enemies to give him time to cast his more powerful spells.

Saurin; the Unrivaled (Crystal of Cathal)
As mentioned before, Saurin can perform all kinds of spells, in exchange for his lifespan. From normal magics, to blood magic, to the most forbidden magics - Saurin can cast them all without any drawbacks. It's simply a never ending list of spells that he can perform. He channels these spells with a single crystal that was passed down by a former Commander. Without the crystal, Saurin will immediately die - hence he keeps it on his body for the majority of the time.

Trivia

  • Saurin is the most powerful mage in the City, and magic he holds is practically legendary. No other powerful mage could compare to him.
    > The amount of power he holds is unfit for a human, and Saurin unfortunately is one.
    > The magic he holds shortens his lifespan greatly. Saurin is only thirty, but he already struggles trying to keep his body in check and hides the fact that his body is eventually weakening. No one except for the royal family knows of this.
  • The crystal being used as his earring is a catalyst for his spells, like how other mages uses a staff to help channel their spells better.
    > If the crystal is stripped away from him, his body would not be able to hold all the power he held on for a long period of time. His body will weaken greatly and die shortly after.
  • As the most powerful mage in the Kingdom, he is legendary for his almost endless knowledge of spells and power.
    > The spell he can cast that everyone knows him for is the Rain of Blades, where Saurin can summon a seemingly infinite amount of blades and rain down onto his enemies.
  • Siegfried's love for birds made Saurin curiously venture into his aviary in the form of a hawk.
    > Siegfried doesn't know that the hawk is actually Ardal, and simply showers the bird with love.
    > Perhaps the love and affection that Siegfried unnoticeably gave to him was the start of Saurin liking him.
  • Saurin loves to hold parties for the rich and nobility
    > Unfortunately the parties leaves his home incapable of living in for a while and has to sleep in Siegfried's tower until his servants finish cleaning his home.
    > Most of the parties do involve orgies.
  • Saurin loves to use his magic during sex.
  • Despite being the most powerful mage in the Kingdom, he's technically banned from using the Library after violating every single rule the Librarian makes.
    > He doesn't need the Library anyways - he knows every single spell that's held in the building.
  • The Royal Advisor to the Princess and the King
    > The other advisors to the King are not appreciative of Saurin. However, his suggestions and advice are always in the King's favor and the advisors have no other choice but to listen to him.
  • Ardal owns a house cat. His cat hates him.

Summary

9708591_f1UjGhkXDqrzIW1.png

Saurin was born from a prestigious family that dedicated themselves with "careful breeding" in order to produce the perfect child with the capability of becoming the next most powerful magic user in Cathal. Ardal, fortunately, became just what his family wanted. The young boy was gifted with great magical prowess, and was automatically sent into the College of Magic to learn.
Because of his gifted ability in magic, many people in his age were often jealous. Saurin eventually had to resort to personal counseling and home tutoring because he never seemed to get along with any of his classmates. Even the teachers often disfavored him because of his title alone.

He hated the fact that it was his family that gave him the advantage of everything provided to him, even if he was spoiled, he was clearly determined to become the city's Grand Councilor without the support of his lineage. He spent most of his time outside of the college to practice different spells - some of them completely forbidden from any student of the College. His years were usually studying and making friends, none of the time was spent with his family. Ardal was completely distant from his direct relatives and relationships between them were tense. Arguments and fights often occurred in his home, and Saurin would never be home for days.

Because of flirtatious and extroverted character, he was already friends with the Princess at a young age. The Princess and the Royal Family seemed to be the only support he had from. With the help of the King, he was given an automatic seat to the Magic Council once he graduated from the College.

Cathal: the Golden Era

Saurin was no fool when he could clearly tell that Siegfried appeared attracted to the beautiful and kind Princess. Through the times he was by her side, all Siegfried could give to her besides his company was really nothing but physical protection and compliments. But clearly no poor, benevolent man has no chance with her, yet he was still intrigued. And so curiously meeting Siegfried in the form of a bird to watch his private life, he seemed to fall in love with him - harder than he expected it to be. The genuine kindness from a lowly man was rather unexpected of Ardal.
Yet the way he was raised and how he socialized, he never truly understood how to confront Siegfried in proper manner. His attempts were rarely anything that Niall found romantic - he was just trying to lure him into his bed every time. Every try he'd go, Siegfried would roll his eyes and push him away.

But little did he know that Siegfried quietly returned his feelings. Ardal, never touched like this before, now saddened that he shared the same feelings.

And his biggest fear eventually hit him; his short lifespan could affect his true love quickly. Hence why Saurin's crude and sexual behavior continued on for years. Ardal couldn't bear to inflict pain onto his romantic partners by dying an early death. Siegfried was no exception - he wanted the Champion to find a better suited partner to fit his future - a man like Saurin was never suited for him. In fact, loving Siegfried, a pure and kindhearted man was someone he shouldn't have touched in the first place.
After rejecting Niall in the cruelest way possible, he found himself evading the Champion at all costs, even when they fought together in battle. And because of his foolishness, he almost lost Siegfried as he almost died during a military campaign outside of the city. Withdrawing back to the city for the Champion's well being, he struggles whether if he should mend their relationship, or continue to wait for Niall to finally move on and forget the mage.

But whoever told Siegfried about his inevitable, early death... it upset Niall greatly. Siegfried forced himself upon him, angry that Saurin would rather die being alone. He claims that Ardal doesn't deserve such a fate, and from there the mage finally gave into him,

The great Litarian adventure

Saurin thought it would be another five years before his body would finally give him. Yet years past and he still alive and well. With a few bodily checkups with the doctors and scientists, he was able to happily prolong his life to live through Queen Elabelle's reign.

Though happily committed, both he and Siegfried had to witness the Queen becoming distressed to not only the disappearance of her husband Roy, but then the death of one of her two children. En, her other child, is also missing. ...But not until he reappeared with a suspicious party - Ardal was awfully curious, yet concerned for the young Prince's wellbeing. Saurin appeared to take En away from Valence's lair and straight to his the Royal Castle.

Relationships

Siegfried

[ Lover ]

Siegfried was simply put: a kind man. Saurin is usually not into those kinds of people, but even Siegfried's kindness had extended to him... and Ardal simply melted (secretly). Not only that, Niall was his fighting partner, whose fighting prowess complimented his own. If Saurin isn't found in the castle with his Princess friend, surely wandering the city with Siegfried, helping out citizens.

Elabelle

[ Best Friend ]

They've been friends since Saurin entered the college of Magic. But Saurin never knew she was the princess first, and never believed it because of her tomboyish activities. At first Saurin had started flrting with her but he still remains to do so jokingly even it was clear the Princess wasn't interested in him. It was only a coincidence that Elabelle was the princess, to which it appealed to his family's wishes, but he truly only sees her as a friend. Thus he's rarely brought her around when a family member is present.

Ser Valence

[ Friend ]

Saurin can read people no problem. So he could tell Valence didn't like him during the start. But overtime, especially when they fought together in the military, they began to get used to their company. Eventually, they became friends after they gave it time to talk things through. Though Bernard still doesn't like the flirtatious remarks, and often reminds him that it's disrespectful to Siegfried if Ardal wishes to be committed to him.

Caliban (WIP)

[ Rival ]

The Librarian is a legendary man in Cathal, who keeps and records all forms of literatures and all spellbooks within his domain. But of all people... why is Saurin (the strongest mage of all) banned from the Library? Simply put, Caliban hates his character and went through all excuses (after he graduated) to ban him. And Ardal's mistake of trying to have sexual interactions with someone (Siegfried), Caliban found him and immediately casted him out from the building. Saurin doesn't need the Library anyways, but if he needed a book, he'll have someone else pick it up or he would have to get the Princess or the King's permission to access it.
