Puppetmaster but the puppets are in charge now :(
One of the children born into the disbanded Troupe of the Two Seasons who grew into a puppeteer of some renown as well as a morose introverted alcoholic. Though the puppets have more control over her than she does of them, the initial horror's (somewhat) worn off and she's apprehensively learned to play along to keep them at bay. Perpetually uneasy about it though – playing along in what story and to what end?

CLAUDE ROSSIGNOL

APPEARANCE
- A tall and slender figure struck by a thick head of dark curls (or tight twists) pulled into a haphazard tail, 3c prob.
- Looks south asian and black, rectangular face, a bit gaunt, always a bit fatigued and tense.
- Carrying a large pack stuffed to the brim with mismatched puppets; Glassy eyes peer out and tangled strings hang from it to her knees.
- Travelling in padded armour, soft leather boots, and a fine black coat with a furred collar and indigo silk lining; Otherwise in stiff formalwear, albeit a bit disheveled.
- Old rapier at their waist. Carries their fine black puppetmaster gear, including a mask or a veil, but doesn't wear it much anymore.
PERSONALITY
- She's always been morose, acerbic, and a bit overstrung, but this has absolutely made it worse; Constantly seems tense and uneasy.
- A stuffy self-sufficient introvert with very little interest in things like having fun.
- Prideful in her prime, and though that pride's been badly damaged, there's still enough of it left that she'd rather keep This Situation to herself.
- Weak-willed princess, dramatic in their despair and complaining, soo easily swayed by any comfort or luxury.
- A lot more fun to be around when they're drunk, but it also brings out both childishness and a profound nihilism.
HISTORY
A mere year ago, Claude was a puppeteer of some renown, one of the living children of the Troupe of the Two Seasons, a travelling group of entertainers long disbanded. Left by her parents under the care of the Troupe's former guide, they're well-known but still a mystery in Kandle Creek, keeping largely to themself and out of the settlements' politics, despite being frequently hired for private shows for the wealthy and influential. They hosted regular public shows, too, in the town square by lanternlight.
The shows have stopped indefinitely. The puppeteer has been supernaturally strung to the will of their own puppets – including a life-sized marionette duplicate of themself they certainly didn't build. She doesn't understand what caused this, nor what they or whatever's responsible for this wants; Only that she can't disobey the pull very far.

- Made like. sometime 2021. before july. as a d&d echo knight concept I never played.
- Alcoholic but I think it's actually gotten better since the puppets took over lmao; Wary that being incapacitated would lead to consequences.
- Hates the cold but would definitely do even worse in the heat.
- Skilled swordarm, taught by her father; Presently willing to take bounties for money.
- The newest puppets are crafted by Claude, the oldest inherited from the Troupe and made by a professional, and the varied rest carved or sewn by the Troupe.
- She was raised around old near-lost religions, but follows the province's dominant religion exactly enough to feel guilty she hasn't been to church in a while.
- Your emotionally neglectful boyfriend.
- The Troupe of the Two Seasons is allegedly cursed, given most if not all of its deceased members died in the cold wilds.

Long after they once met, severed from their old life, Claude reunites with Yohai in the pirate's undeath and is brought aboard; Claude is the sole living crewmate on a ship of spirits and also the least hardworking one, getting away with it by being entertainment, the captain's pet, and also, usefully, alive. Time for dreads.
