Personality: absolutely batshit due to the teeth lodged in his skull, impulsive, reckless, stupid, very confident in his actions, a jokester, can still have some sense knocked into him, will sometimes (but very rarely) revert to his old personality & act much gentler/kinder
Relationships: Renegade (there’s some sort of romantic connection but even they don’t really know what’s going on), Marina (friend/captain), Blake, Tim (older brothers)
Background: Andy is the first mate of the Red Rift, having been a close and loyal friend of Marina for years before she became captain. He grew up as the youngest of 3 sons of a shark hunter, but hated the job due to his beliefs that sharks didn’t deserve to be hunted. To “teach him a lesson”, his (rather cruel) older brothers, Blake and Tim, threw him overboard during a shark hunt when he was 10 years old, causing him to get bitten directly on the head. He managed to kill the shark with his knife and cut himself free, but floated off from the fishing boat, eventually landing in a port in Black Flag Harbor.
On the island, he managed to heal, but suffered a brief bout of amnesia and a personality shift due to the doctor being unable to take out the teeth, now permanently lodged in his skull. He spent most of his younger years bouncing from place to place on the island, learning from others in taverns and around fires about the lifestyle of piracy. Eventually, he joined the crew of the Red Rift, where he befriended Marina. He has stayed on that ship to this very day.
The teeth in his skull seem to have driven him slightly insane— he often makes reckless decisions and has many crazy ideas, but due to some ungodly level of luck, he’s still alive. (Marina and Renegade often keep him in check.) He gained the nickname “Sharkskull Andy“ early on in his career as a pirate, and is one of the more notorious/recognizable in the history books.
Aside from his cerebral decor, he’s also known for being one half of a dynamic duo— he and Renegade can often be found fighting back-to-back during naval battles and trade ship raids. Andy is the only one who Renegade allows to call them by their real name (Wyndam), and the two have some sort of romantic relationship going on, but even they can’t really figure out exactly what it is.
Physical description: An otter with shaggy brown fur and blue eyes. He has a row of shark teeth running across the top right half of his head, stretching from his left ear down to his right cheek. He is blind in his right eye, and sometimes wears an eyepatch over it. He often wears a white undershirt, a black vest and pants, and a few brown belts, occasionally tucking a red piece of cloth (his oldest brother’s formerly favorite bandana) into one belt. He also owns a large black coat, similar to Marina’s, but he only wears it on special occasions or when he wants to be dramatic.
