Chief Officer & Detective Ayala is the leader of the Investigation Bureau’s “Alpha” team. Because of this he has gained the reputation of the “Maneater” inside the force. His team is alpheans own flavor of suicide squad deployed to catch the most wicked and vile of murderers, them themselves being a group of strange individuals with blood on their hands, many not by choice. Throughout his century-long career Ayala has locked up as many people as he has lost in the process, he is not afraid nor stranger to the concept of death at the cost of justice but it still weighs heavy in his mind. Because of this he developed an intense addictive personality and revels in substances to ease his mind. He is the Hunter of Hunters, feared by both good and bad by how unstable his morality may be.
Health is not the best for Juan, he has to rely on heavy antipsychotics and seizure stabilizers to be able to survive a week in his job without incidents. Due to his nature of empathizing with the people he catches, thus being able to trail them down, he has to force his mind into very dark places almost daily. His work has a great detrimental effect on his mental health and is known to be unstable in every sense of the word. The IB decides to look away from his self destructive job for the better of alphean kind. In the end, one lost mind is better than many dead civilians. When pushed too much, Juan might become extremely aggressive and risk people who step on his way. He is a natural hunter and will not stop until he catches his prey, regardless of the cost.
Outside his detective work, he is a guard for a reservoir in Central Alphea. He has built a cabin throughout the years with the help of lost cash and hard work.. It is not luxurious and covers only the basics one may need but it is enough for the officer who simply wishes to have a peaceful place in his life. He has great love for his animals and will talk hours upon hours of all the things they may do. It takes hard work to be able to reach the level of confidence where this side of Ayala shows up but when it does it can be heartwarming for anyone listening. Regardless of pain, Juan is at heart a humble soul that enjoys nature and asks for very little in life since he never knew what it is to have a lot to begin with. The team wishes one day the man can retire and live his calm, carefree self, working on plots of land and enjoying the warm sun of a summer day.

- Juan Ayala is a ravenstag. This means that his body is composed of both feathers and fur. It is not rare to see him scratching his beard in pin feather season.
- Officer Ayala suffers from intense seizures due to the nature of his job, these cause him to “fog” and forget many events in a blink of an eye. His memory comes and goes, stress being a great factor.
- In comparison to common belief, he is not the most threatening person, just looks like it. In public situations he prefers to stay back and let Zhou do the talking. He is of shy nature when it comes to his own opinions… unless he had whiskey that day.
- In comparison to alpheans, Juan can shed and regrow his crown (antlers) very easily. It is not strange for these to break off during cases. When he velvets, its not strange to see his face showered in his own blood.
- Ayalas heart will always reside in nature, this being a luxury for alphean standards. Child of a hunter family. Like many other hunters after the gunting prohibition was passed, he inherited the tiring role of being an animal protector in Central Alphea. This is how he got his reservoir dome in which no one dares to enter. Zhou calls it his own personal cage.
Impossible to name the bond between these two, enemy or lover Juan cannot quite recognize himself the necessity of Sotheby's presence in his life. But cannot fathom the idea of losing the dragon.
Jaycelin is one of the few on the team that understand the deer in a non spoken level. They just agree to not dwell too much on each other's past.
Seretaya is a great asset for the man's team. He greately values his phsyical capabilities but can get tired of the Ean's clumsiness
Even though they did not meet in the best terms, Juan recognizes his mentor status in the eyes of the young Sol. As so he tries to imprint his experience into them.
Ayala was dear close friends with the people that were Collins parents. After their death he accepted the mantle of father-in-law and cared for the woman in the best way an Ayala would. He taught her how to hunt for what she wants, defend herself from the world and read people better. The team and him find great joy in her visits.
