Ruby Sieben

Personality: Among all the Gem Rabbits on the Moon, Ruby is the most introverted, preferring solitude over huge lunar parties.  

She's rarely seen spending company with anyone else besides The Princess or Sapphire Neun. 

Thanks to her ventures on Earth, she learns how to draw and likes to illustrate stories for The Princess to read at bedtimes.

Backstory: The Gem Rabbits are lunar creatures that resemble moon rabbits, but like the namesake suggests, they're crafted solely from gems. Every month of the year, the Lunarians collect shattered remains of comets from vast moons in order to craft a special Gem Rabbit from each birthstone. Because Princess Kaguya is disabled and has a heavy fur allergy, these rabbits serve as companions/pets for her!

Ruby was the 7th Gem Rabbit companion. Thanks to the ruby gemstone being high on the hardness scale (9 on the Mohs scale), the gems harvested from the comets proved incredible use in crafting Ruby Sieben. This made her one of the strongest Gem Rabbits, just behind Diamond Vier. Unfortunately, with 6 elder Gem Rabbits, and 5 younger Gem Rabbits all based on the birthstones, Ruby was stuck being the most Middle child, if that makes any sense. 

All Gem Rabbits are crafted with a specific mineral, with one grand gem harnessing their power placed in a random area. In Ruby's case, her strongest ruby was split in two and are placed on her eyes, which is why she always covered them. Getting blasted by her eyes results in the person getting crystallized! The effect duration depends on the mineral in question, but can last a few hours or a whole day.

One day, she is on the Moon, finished with her errands, when a passing Lunarian citizen was opening a portal to Earth as a prank. They were initially gonna prank a different Lunarian, but they bumped into Ruby and she ended up falling in the portal, transporting her to an unknown galaxy. Now lost and alone, everyone is scrambling to get Ruby back home on the Moon.

•  Capable of controlling all kinds of lithomancy thanks to her eyes
• The star markings on her legs are tattoos!
• Like most rabbits, she's pretty fast and evasive.
•  An excellent sharpshooter, using her own handmade guns, containing sharp gem-like bullets
•  Has an absolute soft spot for soft and fuzzy clothing, especially fuzzy socks
• The Gem Rabbit race created was indeed inspired heavily by Houseki no Kuni; in fact, they aim to combine aspects from both HnK and Steven Universe
• Every Gem Rabbit is sexless and genderless by default, using they/them pronouns naturally. Ruby, however, also responds to she/her.

Drawing Notes

• There's no right or wrong way to draw the hair texture! Feel free to experiment however you like!
• Keep Ruby's eyes concealed, unless you want to become a crystal statue too.
