Story
The beginning
Golden Beryl was from the original island and lived there for most of their life. They were expected to fight and lived up to those views, excelling in their patrol duties. They even had multiple partners, able to be trusted to work with most of the gems.
They had plenty of friends, and lived a simple life. They fell out of love with sword combat so they started using a bow instead, and got very good at it. And so that was life for a while.
Escape
The school was one day raided by moon people, and particularly worse than normal. They estimated about half of the gems they knew were taken that day. They ran away into the ocean in a panic. They still don't know why they did.
In the sea, they quickly became disoriented and was preyed upon by an admirabilis who stole and ate an arm and leg of theirs. They eventually ended up on the shore of a little volcanic island.
A new home
The most intriguing thing about the whole ordeal was that the island was populated almost entirely by gems thought to be on the moon, a previous partner being one of them. They settled into their new home, but had some suspicions about the entire situation.
Why was the island kept a secret for so long? Why did no one bother to find a way back and tell the rest of the gems? Why do gems from the moon visit but the moon itself doesn't attack the gems there? Where did the leader's extra pair of arms come from? All good questions.
