One has not known patience until they’ve known Charles. Though one might interpret that as needing patience to deal with him, those days are long over for him at this point! Once a hapless, helpless noble boy whose first attempt at exploring the outside world ended up with him bleeding out in an alleyway, Charles has grown into a responsible, fiercely loyal, determined man that is more noble in spirit than status at this point.
Now a father, husband, and son to a loving mother he never knew he had, Charles finds more people depending on him than ever, and he’s more than stepped up to embrace the task. Up until recently, he’s been staying with his recently-discovered biological mother, taking care of both his grandparents and his young daughter while Dop ventures the world, searching for a way to get back to her home plane. While he misses her dearly, he has vowed to support his wife no matter what, and if that means raising their child mostly alone… So be it.
ACT I
First impressions are everything, and considering that Charles's introduction to the party was due to him getting stabbed in an alleyway, he's had a lot of lost dignity to make up for -- especially in front of his savior, his muse, his guardian angel on four hooves: Dop! Enamoured with her from the start, he joined her ragtag group without any hesitation, only to learn that you should probably really be better prepared before jumping head-first into the unknown. He didn't really sign up to lose an arm, get possessed by a goddess, get married to the leader of an assassin's guild, become a stepfather to a literal dragon, and become a whole ass father to a satyr baby, but... Life works in mysterious ways, doesn't it?
ACT II
Of course, an assassin's guild is no place to raise a baby, so it was only a matter of time until Dop and Charles took a trip to visit his folks, as he'd surely need the help. After all, Dop planned to attend Arthos in her effort to find a way to her home plane, and being a functionally single father is hard work! Unfortunately, as it turns out, all of those "accidents", up to and including him getting stabbed in an alleyway, were all his mother's doing, as he was apparently the bastard son of one of his father's affairs. Bummer. After yet another attempt on his life that ended in his (apparently adoptive) mother's death rather than his, and with his father already deceased from an "unfortunate" house fire, Charles was out of options for help. ...That is, until he managed to make contact with his biological mother!
Off to Brimbleton the group went, finally safely depositing Charles and Wisteria with seemingly trustworthy folks. Mission success! ...And then the war started. Double bummer. With his family in mind, Charles quickly found himself as a captain of the Brimbleton army, only to quickly lose his rank due to his newfound temper, instilled in him by the wrathful goddess that has made her home in his body. Triple bummer! He didn't have long to stew on that, though, because before he knew it... Dop had found a portal home, and she wasn't leaving without him.
Or... Without most of him. He did end up losing a foot during their final misson to open the portal. Bummer.
