Theme [TBA]

Ioku is the laidback Patriarch of the Yagyu, a Yamatando-kai subsidary.
Not really the most accomplished of the families, he is still a popular figure to many of the Yakuza.

Io, with this little brother, lived in Japan's entertainment capital, which they simply call it the "Entertainment District," their whole lives. They know the District like the back of their hand.

Yagyu has an ulterior motive for his presence in the syndicate. No one seems to notice he has an underlying reason for his hard work, but he actually wishes that the Yakuza will be destroyed... to which he'll try to do it himself by rising the ranks.

About

Ioku is quick-witted and a perceptive man who believes seeing the big picture. There is an optimistic side to him - to where he uses it well for when he desires to see the best within every peer and underling that works for him. Started off as a hesitant underling of the Yamatando-kai, he became officer who is a cut above the rest after he started to understand of the flow of how the Yakuza worked. And the days of being an excellent host gives him the advantage of swaying others to his side.

Any of his fierce and strict demeanor is simply a front to show whatever loyalty he has towards his superiors that survey him. But realistically he doesn't want to wish any harm on anybody. He often goes behind everyone's back (even his own soldiers) just to help someone's hide.

  • Actually a really bad Yakuza.
  • Before Io joined the clan, he was a host soon after he graduated school. He had no interest in going to University.
    > The host club he worked in was owned by a member well affiliated to the Yamatando-kai. He got along with him quite well... until Kibo accidentally killed him.
  • Not really a fan of wine and beer. He typically likes fruity, sweet drinks.
  • He was an underling that worked for the Kurokumo family, his patriarch, Rogu was a fashion designer and Io often modeled for his work.
  • Very fond of arcades. He never been to one until Kibo took him to one.
    > Owns about 80% of the arcades in the Entertainment District. Minus the big ones owned by the topshot companies (like Sega).
  • Most of the Yagyu family income is from the host clubs that he and his little brother manages.
    > They own the most popular host club, "Moonlight." Though he's not the manager there anymore, he'll often scout and train the best hosts if he has the time.
  • Quite good at kendo.
    > Kibo also taught him how to fight in other forms of martial arts. He's quite capable in a fight - especially against multiple people.
  • His back tattoo is the Asura King.
  • Loves to drink hot cocoa.
    > It may be childish to others, but he holds a strong attachment to it. He considers it as a symbolism of a warm welcome and pure comfort.

Backstory

Ioku and his little brother, Iehiro was born in the Entertainment District. The two of them were raised by their parents, who lived in a small home that also shared a bar - the only source of income that the two could live off of. However, the District was known for the wild nightlife - attracting the Yakuza from all sides in order to claim territory as their own. The Yagyu family was no stranger in being the victim of them, who often hounded around and asked for "protection fees."

Io saw his father as a hero, who often did his best to fend off whatever men affiliated with the clan in order to be left alone. Despite it often ended with him with cuts, bruises, and even trips to the hospital - his mother calling for the police always seemed to ward them off for quite a while. Yet they kept coming back regardless of how long it took.

After Io picked his younger brother from school and walked back home, they were welcomed with the death of his parents. It was no coincidence that it was the Yakuza that constantly harassed them, ended up murdering them in the end.

Io was barely a teenager when the bar was handed over to him, but he had to give it up when he had nothing to manage it. The Yamatando-kai soon claimed it as their own and the Yagyu siblings would retreat to the safety of their only uncle.

They weren't respected by their Uncle, who often mixed himself up with the Yamatando due to his gambling addiction. Yagyu preferred to be in school partaking in afterschool activities and stayed as late as he could just so he wouldn't deal with his uncle when he came home.

One day he was coming back home late night from kendo practice, he was caught in the midst of illegal activities. He was being pursued by the Yakuza and had little strength to fight off fully grown men that caught him.

"Leave the boy," someone behind him said. Followed by a few shots from his gun, equipped with a silencer. A stranger killed them all with no hesitation.

(Story) The Prodigal

The stranger picked him up and threw him over his shoulder, running off to a small park far from the area where he shot his pursuant. He gently placed him on the bench and gave him time to collect his thoughts.

"Thank you..." Was all young Io could say. He was on his knees, that was covered in dirt and dust, and bowed to him with desperation. "Why did you save me?"

"You're too young to die. That's a good enough excuse."

"Normally adults would turn their heads and pretend nothing happened."

"Well... I'm not a really a normal adult, wouldn't you say?"

The man was strapped with a gun to his side. He was a sophisticated man, well dressed, mature and kind. Looking at him, he was definitely not a Yakuza.

"How can I repay you? I'll do anything!"

Ioku was brought to a small apartment that he rented out to himself. The older man welcomed him with a mug of hot chocolate - a sweet drink that would be forever embedded into Io's memories. This man was named Kibo, an agent who recently came to Japan for a purpose that he can't openly speak about. For sure, Kibo's purpose was directly involving the Yamatando-kai.

The agent didn't want to push the young boy, neither did he want to ask Io for a favor. However, Ioku was more than willing to offer him as much information he knows about the Entertainment District. And his years living in the city - he knew exactly where the clan would often congregate.

Kibo offered the apartment to him and his little brother, as a present for working with him for years. Although Kibo never really stayed in Japan for long, he came by to visit the Yagyu siblings, often asking for any new activities with the Yamatando-kai. Kibo even was well off, as he often offered the two with money and other resources that they desperately needed.

But even if he became a host after finishing school, he couldn't get much information to give to his savior. And so he decided that he'll join the group himself. Despite this was against Kibo's intentions and never wanted to put Yagyu in danger, he wanted to destroy the group from the inside. For him and his parents.

Relationships

Kibo  [ "Uncle" ]

Kibo is the mysterious agent that Io is completely indebt to, and one of the reasons why he joined the Yamatando-kai. Though not related, he sees Kibo as a wonderful "uncle" that he respects dearly. He doesn't know why Io wants the syndicate destroyed, but he doesn't question it anymore. If Yagyu finds himself in a situation that he can't escape on his own, he has Kibo on call for emergency purposes.

He doesn't see Kibo very often, even back when the man saved him. But whenever he's back in Japan, he'll go out of his way to spend a whole day with him.

Iehiro  [ Little Brother ]

Iehiro, nicknamed Hiro, is Io's little brother. Hiro was in his elementary years when the two of them discovered their parents' corpses at the bar they worked in. And it traumatized his brother on multiple nights. Outside of school, Hiro often kept him by his side so that he wouldn't be afraid anymore.

But now Ioku joined the Yakuza, he was surprised that his little brother followed him. He may be indebt to Kibo as well for saving Io, Hiro's purpose of joining was solely for the revenge of his parents and payback for the years of trauma he dealt with.

Rogu  [ Boss ]

Rogu is quite old, but he hasn't changed at all according to the other elder members. He's been part of the clan for years, and hasn't left the fashion industry. In fact, when Ioku and Iehiro joined the Yakuza, Kurokumo wanted the two to join his family... solely for their looks. He understood why after, considering the man was after their look and became a perfect candidate of being a model.

He didn't learn much from Rogu on being a proper Yakuza member. He didn't really need to, honestly. Alot of the things he does in the Yamatando-kai were adopted from Rogu's work.

Io is worried how Rogu would react whenever Io succeeds... he's afraid of hurting the man that took him under his wing. And conflicted what Ioku would do if Kurokumo took action against the Yagyu family's intentions.
