Epona Amsel is an original character made for the game Genshin Impact. A Pyro Claymore user residing in Mondstadt, Epona is a member of the Knights of Favonius. She is essentially considered a "right-hand" to the Grand and Acting Grand Masters of the Knights of Favonius. Hence her most known title as "Champion."

After her injury, she's seemed as if she has held back from strenuous stuff compared to how she used to be, however she is still certainly a force to be reckoned with.

For the most part, Etain grew up with a fairly normal childhood. She was the second daughter to a father formerly part of the Knights of Favonius and a lady working at the Dawn Winery. Along with her parents was her elder sister, Epona. Their father wasn't necessarily absent all the time, but he did often take on missions from the Adventurer's Guild just to claim any extra money that he could for his family. With that said, most of Epona and Etain's time was spent either at the Dawn Winery with their mother at work, or with the Ragnvindr family as they held a close bond with the Amsel family. While the adults did their business, Etain would spend her time as a child playing with Diluc and Kaeya who would soon join the bunch as his brother. Her sister didn't join them as much, so she got all the time she could hanging around rather rowdy boys which perhaps she got judged for since she didn't want to be around other girls her age.

In their early teens, the four of them having had a close bond with each other all decided they would enter the Knights of Favonius together. Although that was the plan, Diluc and Kaeya growing older broke off from the two ladies, so it became more of a two duos kind of thing. They still kept in contact with each other, but not as much as they once did as they figured they should start going independently into their own ranks. Etain tried to keep up, but she couldn't help but start to fall a little behind in terms of skill. Diluc was already promoted to being the youngest ever Cavalry Captain while both Kaeya and Epona showed great performance each in their own ways. Etain felt rather left behind because she wasn't improving all that much at first, leaving her to be perhaps a little envious. At the very least, she at least had made one friend, Edeleine, within her ranks to stand by while the other three were soaring with flying colors.

Some time passes, and it's the time of Diluc's 18th birthday. Etain and Epona were there, however, they never got the news of Crepus' death until a few days after when they hear about Diluc disbanding from the Knights. Upon hearing the news, Etain is quick to rush to both of the brothers only to find out there was a conflict between them, having almost fought to the death with each other. Her first reaction was to pile up questions for the two, which only annoyed them so she backs off in understanding that they probably need time. Diluc goes off on his own on a journey outside of Mondstadt, and Kaeya breaks off from Etain for a while after he just broke the only familial bond he had left. She was left with Epona who was equally as shaken by the reality of Crepus' passing. Not long after, the sisters find themselves tied up with matters involving the Fatui and Diluc, ending up in a near-fatal blow for the two of them. Etain gets in between Epona and the Fatui when she witnesses Epona trying to defend Diluc. While caught in the crossfire, it is when they receive their visions. Etain, in desperation, to save her sister from taking her final hit, and Epona had the willpower to defend herself for what would've been the last time if she didn't survive. Her sister only ends up badly injured, taking some time to heal meant that Etain wanted to stay by her side as much as possible.
