H.J can best be described as the "level headed" member of the band. Due to his childhood being spend acting like the adult in the family, H.J is a responsible pragmatist who makes sure the others don't act too out of line. The band allowed him to actually be a kid again, and regain the fun and adventure he missed out on during his childhood. Despite being somewhat strict and no fun, H.J is eternally grateful for having the ability to play, tour, and live out his dreams.
Like the others, he loves his band mates and is fiercely loyal to them. He always takes on the role of caretaker and helping hand, which is perfect for managing the band's PR as well as making sure everyone's mental health is in check. His responsible and level-headed position can sometimes make him come across as a little bit of a "know it all" who thinks he's above everything, but the others are quick to help remind him to have fun once in a while too.

Jog-Halvdan Freorvoll comes from a very poor family. They struggled heavily to keep jobs, and due to this, H.J's favorite activity was wondering if they were going to have white rice or yellow rice for dinner that day. Besides the job situation, his parents were extremely depressed and sick, and could barely get out of bed most of the time, so H.J became the man of the house. This situation forced H.J to grow up way too early. He never experienced what it was like to be a kid, as he spend basically all of his childhood taking care of his family and his disabled little sister, cleaning the house, making dinner, all on top of school work.
One of the few good times for him was sitting outside the porch of their unkempt garden and listening to his dad's old thrash records. He became a fan instantly and spend what little money he had at the record store, despite his parents yelling at him for it. He dreamed of being able to play the guitar himself, but knew this was far out of his reach. His little sister, unbeknownst to him, mwas secretly saving up money behind his back. During christmas, she gifted H.J his very first bass guitar. She insisted that he kept following his dreams and keep playing. And so, shortly after, he banded together some friends and played with them after school during the little free time he had.
After a year or two of this, the band disbanded as the others wanted to focus on school instead, meanwhile H.J wanted to take it further. One day, while doing some errands in town, he saw a crappily written flyer of this band "Brokt" hanging on a notice board. They were a newly formed death metal aband, and they needed a bassist. He signed up immediatly. Having already played in a band prior, he had experience with the bass guitar, so they quickly accepted him. And just like that, H.J found his future lifelong friends. He was finally able to have some fun in his life. The band was able to make up for all the years of childlike fun he had missed out on. His parents were sceptical and against it at first, but seeing how all those successful gigs paid off and helped them get out of poverty, they eventually grew to like it. With newfound stable income, his parents eventually managed to land permanent jobs, and now are doing very well for themselves, being eternally greatful for their son's help. He still helps them out from time to time, but he now has much more freedom to do whatever he wants.
