Born a noble in the country of Fabrem, Jovian Onyx Jewul was slotted for an arranged marriage to Karina Castenie. Jovian did little to resist his manipulative, narcissist wife, even when it came to her abuse of their children, Viv and Ferris. Viv was always Jovian's favorite child, in part because she was Karina's least favorite.
Before his marriage, Jovian had been close friends with the prospective duke of the Nuumite duchy, Ouranous. However with his new marriage he kept his relationship toward his old friend a secret to Karina, because of the Castenie and Nuumite family's generational feud. When Jovian had decided he could not take a moment longer of his wife's company and her abuse of Viv, he secretly reached out to Ouranous and pled with him to agree to a union between his son Lazuli, and Viv, in order to get her out of the house and away from her mother. Citing a time he had saved Ouranous's life as a young man as a life debt. Ouranous agreed, and Karina was rather easily convinced to be rid of Viv.
His daughter safe, Jovian fled. Faking his own death in a carriage incident, Jovian changed his name to Jules Onyxx and fled to the country of Overgrowth. After working his way up for some time, he began running his own vineyard. Settling down and starting a new family with Honey.
