Introduction

The reclusive scientist, buried in his work in his ice-cold laboratory. In its recesses lies dozens of frozen specimens - mortals and animals alike - carefully preserved to satiate Sek's curiosity. Few are allowed in the aboveground labyrinth of halls and experiments, let alone graced with knowledge of the basement. Which, really, is how he prefers it.

Once upon a time, he'd dabbled in mortal romance. It ended in a blazing failure, his partner committing suicide by the end of it. Though the Mags assumed he struggled to move past it, in reality Sek has been perfectly content being alone for the rest of his life - desires it, even. He loves his peers, of course, but nothing appeals more than pouring over his documentation and instruments in the dark, with only the crackle of electricity his company.

After all... the Mags would hate him if they knew exactly what he was creating, right under their noses. Kolo wouldn't approve of his tendency to kidnap before asking, and Pya would be horrified at his most hideous creation... so it's better if they don't know. 

He doesn't want them to stop loving him.
