"Don't touch the hair. You might... delete something."
Naoko is a "bunny puffball" who is a friend of Clyde. He appears on "Popstar's" Topside; however, he originally did not originate from this place. He comes from an entirely different dimension that upon looking at it, is …strange for a Kirby to even exist in.
Naoko ACTUALLY comes from a place called "Neo Tokyo", a more advanced looking version of what seemed to be Earth's Tokyo. Back when he was around, the place was riddled with strange monsters that no one could figure out how to handle. He was a big part of a technological development team working towards a project that was able to deter this problem. The only problem was that the machine required a very complicated input for it to work: someone would have to be turned into data in order for the machine to operate. In that process, they would lose all of their memories, along with a small chance of being teleported... to another dimension...? It was certainly complicated, alright. But the team understood the risks, especially Naoko. They couldn't afford to just stand around and determine who would be the one; they had practically no time with how much worse the monster situation was getting.
So, in haste, Naoko volunteered.
Not everyone agreed with this choice, especially the ones he held close... but he knew it was the only way. He went in to the machine. Through the process, he tried his hardest to hold on to his memories.
The project? . . . he couldn't remember.
His friends? . . . what friends? Did he ever have any?
His hometown? . . . where . . did he come from?
The only thing he was able to hold on to... was who he was. Even though there was a small chance it would happen, a portal to a separate dimension had opened, which had those memories telling him who he was. He didn't want to go in at first... but he didn't want to be left with nothing. So he did, and out he went into "Popstar." An oddly specific place for him to arrive at, but at least he looks like he belongs.
Fun Facts
- Naoko's entire design, story and all, was heavily inspired by Rocket League and their Neo Tokyo Update.
- Naoko's hair actually contains data created from some unknown source. If it is disrupted enough, some data can be "deleted."
- According to biological math that is now irrelevant, Naoko is 5 1/2 years old in his universe, which is equated to "17 in human years." It's unknown what his real age is now.
- Though he never utilizes it anymore, Naoko can create any weapon he wishes using data., like the Buster Sword or the Galaxia. However, these weapons are 50% weaker than the real deal.
- Naoko can actually take the data from his enemies and store it in his hair, telling him some of their strengths and weaknesses. If too much data is stored, however, he becomes overloaded.
- Naoko, apparently, has his own theme song.
- Naoko's "super form", titled System Overload, had its own theme song as well.
