Alec Dalian's Comments

Ah, no not yet. Lord Dalia is still sort of in the works. ^^; I mean, I've got all the general lore and his general appearance planned out and all, but I haven't had time to put all of it in words quite yet. Plus I need to likely redesign him since the last time I drew him was when I was in 6th grade... so... about a decade ago. Boy oh boy... In general though, Lord Dalia is my world's God of Life and he chooses one of his "children" to serve as his host, or his link to the mortal world, so he may better watch over them and serve his creations through his host. I hope that's not too vague... I could try to explain it a little better if you like though, since I'm not that great at explaining things on the spot. XD

And thanks so much for taking interest in my babies' stories. They mean the world to me, so I really appreciate it~

Aw, thank you. :3 I'm flattered. I'd say the host is more like a prophet of sorts, although they do gain some of his godly powers to a degree in order to more easily carry out his will on their own. Alec in particular has the potential to serve as his host, but due to some instability with actually controlling his powers, a different member of the Dalian family is currently Lord Dalia's actual host. If something were to happen to the current host though, Alec could very well be next in line to take up the role, although he hardly knows anything about what being the host actually means. He's somewhat in the dark about it so far since he's not the prime candidate, and he only vaguely is aware of Lord Dalia's existence at all. All it is to him at the moment is "Okay. Magic soul crystal thing in my shoulder with weird holy energy. I'm brought back to life every time I've died so far. Apparently I've got the God of Life watching my back. Sounds cool." XD

Indeed. Alec and the current host, Calik, are actually cousins, with Alec's mother being the older sister of Calik's father. But during the majority of their own main stories they don't interact at all. They actually live in neighboring cities, but they have yet to meet each other since Alec's been in juvi for the past few years. They know of each other though, and I'm sure they eventually get to meeting each other once all the nonsense they have to get through is over... but of course I have to actually write it at some point instead of putting it off for years. DX

Well, the Dalian family is descended from the first human Lord Dalia created ages ago, so their bloodline has always had his favor. Not all of Lord Dalia's hosts are from that family, but many of them have, and almost all of them technically have some degree of potential to be his host. From this generation there are actually 4 potential hosts, Alec and his older brother, and then Calik and his older brother. Since Alec's older brother is oldest, he was supposed to be first in line, but he was just born with no rifting ability (rifting is basically innate "magic" without going into much detail). Calik's brother had the ability and the control over his powers, but during his story he's attacked by the Death Element and a part of his soul was... corrupted in a sense. Even though it doesn't have any apparent effect on him, he can't be the host when he has a connection to one of Lord Dalia's enemies. Alec would've been next, but... uh... how do I put this simply? Well, everyone with the ability to rift has a Soul Prism within them, which is like a crystal focus that isn't inside them physically but is present within them spiritually. It basically channels the magic in the person's soul. Alec's got misaligned with his soul when he was born somehow, so whenever it manifests itself physically it's jutting out of his shoulder when it should be in his chest/heart area. So, he has the power potential and all, but his control over it is very unstable. He's already accidentally killed his older sister with its volatile energy, which he's never forgiven himself for. He got passed up not because he wouldn't be able to handle the role per se, but mostly because he could prove to be dangerous or too unreliable. Right now, Calik is the best choice, and even though he hasn't figured out how to use his powers yet, he shouldn't have any issues controlling them once he does.

Likely if Alec would ever have to take the responsibility he wouldn't necessarily dodge it, but he wouldn't believe he's qualified for it. "Me? Carrying out the will of the God of Life? No way, I'm too much of an asshole to be that kind of role model for the Eternity." He tends to underestimate himself though, and under pressure I'm sure he'd do fine, since he does care dearly about those close to him. He'd just have to get over some other obstacles, like, "So I have to make the world a better place for everyone? Even all the other assholes? Uh... let me think about that." ^^; Wow, that was a ramble. Sorry about that. XD Once I get going I have a hard time stopping.
