Physical Appearance

• Medium-length chocolate brown hair with red and blue streaks
• Brown eyes
• 4 piercings per ear; 2 upper, 2 lower
• Fair skinned, usually with a moderate tan

• Has his Soul Prism jutting out of his left shoulder, which appears to be blue crystals; they are invisible until he channels his rifting, but he keeps it covered with bandages since they sometimes appear when he's angry or when they react to the spiritual energies of other creatures or people

Clothing Style

Alec doesn't have that many different articles of clothing in his wardrobe since he doesn't buy anything new on his own. His most common outfit is a black sleeveless shirt and a somewhat torn pair of jeans. Alec only owns about 3 pairs of jeans, and he tends to borrow shirts from Volkmar. The only clothing he has a lot of are socks and boxers, mostly because Ashley excessively gifts him different patterned boxers. He also has one pair of plain black running shoes.

For accessories he is rather minimalistic. He tends to wear two belts, one around his waist through his belt loops and the other hanging more loosely. He also wears a chain around the first belt. He very often wears a black studded choker that was a gift from Adeleida, and he rarely goes anywhere without his fingerless gloves. These gloves were made by his brother, Derek, and they have metal knuckles built into them and have retractable knuckle spikes as well. He always wears bandages over his left shoulder to cover where his Soul Prism is exposed unless he is currently using it's power for whatever reason.

Personality

Alec is a headstrong and witty young man who, like his name oddly suggests, is a bit of a smart-aleck. He can be rather short tempered, but he mellows out as he gets older, and he tends to be level-headed during stressful times. He can be excitable with some things but completely mellow with others, and it's sometimes hard for people who don't know him well to nail down his personality since he seems to react very differently depending on the situation. From his preteen to his mid-teenage years, he has anger issues and liked getting into (and winning) fights, but he really prefers not to anymore since he's gotten out of juvie and doesn't want to get into any more trouble. He can be a touch stubborn, and he approaches most of his problems with a confident and assertive demeanor. He gets uneasy when people he's not too familiar with get in his personal space, and there are very few people he's close enough with that he actually enjoys being very physically close with.

Alec is loyal to his friends and family, and he comes off as fearless to the point of being reckless at times, although for certain things he does think the situation through first. Although he'll do anything for the people he cares about, he doesn't have a firm concept of self worth in the sense that he'll put himself through a lot of crap, even abuse, to keep his friends and family safe. Alec seems to hold a rather cool and confident persona in public, but he really is genuine about how he expresses himself and doesn't care about sounding or appearing cool to other people. He has a healthy sense of humor and has no problem with poking fun at himself to lighten the mood. He's very likely to roll with things even if the situation gets pretty weird, but he tends to be protective of those around him when things get serious or risky. He has a fear of losing those close to him due to the death of both his father and sister, so he gets antsy rather easily when someone he cares about is threatened or in danger.

A facet of Alec's personality that only those close to him will see is the amount of guilt and disdain for himself he harbors. He had a very close relationship with his late father, whom he loved and looked up to more than anyone, and he feels responsible for his father's death since he died protecting him. He also holds in a lot of guilt for his involvement in the death of his sister, despite the fact she doesn't hold it against him, and he hasn't been able to talk to anyone about it for years. It's obvious that Alec tries his best to make things easier on his mother and brother since he feels responsible for their hardship, especially since he wasted so much time stuck in juvi and burdening his mother with legal bills. Alec is quite sensitive about the troubles his family has and still faces, and he tends to avoid talking about them to people he doesn't totally trust, both because he doesn't like to share their personal troubles and also because he usually has a hard time keeping it together when the subject is brought up. He also has a habit of hiding his feelings if he is worried about disappointing those he cares about. He doesn’t want to seem like a complainer or a burden on others, so he often puts up with things much longer than he should since he doesn’t want to make problems for others. This sometimes leads him into being a doormat for his friends and family, and he will bite his tongue about any of his own discomforts for the sake of keeping these people happy.

Backstory

Alec grew up the youngest of three in a low-class family struggling to stay out of poverty. Although they didn't have many luxuries, they lived a happy life together. However, on Alec's 6th birthday he and his father got caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting, resulting in his father's death. Only two years later his older sister, Kally, died too, and Alec became an emotional mess from both survivor's guilt and developing a phobia and constant paranoia of more death in his family. He started to act out more, and at the age of 8 he wandered into his neighbor's open garage, stole some beer from their fridge, and also stole their car, since Alec had been obsessed with cars for years. For whatever reason he drove around trying to run over squirrels, causing property damage, and was then sentenced to juvenile prison.

Although he served his sentence he could never pass his rehab course due to his anger issues and ended up having to retake it for six years while on limited probation. He had started giving up hope on getting his head on straight and finally being released until he ended up with Volkmar Etruka as a cellmate. Though their relationship was rocky at first, the two eventually became best friends and were able to keep each other from acting up enough to pass their rehab course. Shortly after being released from juvie, Alec realized his Soul Prism, which he only knew as an invisible crystal jutting out of his shoulder sometimes, could revive him from the dead after a fatal car crash. He also realized his sister, Kally, was still present in his Soul Prism as a spirit and was the one allowing him to return to life.

Alec's been trying to keep to a clean path and help his family manage their somewhat dilapidated house since his mother has taken on two jobs to afford it. He spends a lot of his time with either his older brother, Derek, Ashley (his girlfriend), or Volkmar. He's not entirely sure what he wants to do with his life, but he's enjoying his freedom and trying not to squander it again with stupid decisions.
