Lee Jumin was born the eldest of several younger siblings. His parents were in a loving relationship. And in his youth, he often had some of the happiest memories with them. His mother was the breadwinner of the family, while his father became slowly ingrained into a hospital bed as time pass on. With his father's illness, Jumin was stuck with most of the grunt work of taking care of his three younger siblings. When his father ended up passing away while Jumin was in his teens, he had been given memorabilia of his father's youth: old music sheets. He had always been an avid music lover, playing both the cello and the bass he always had a great sense of rhythm, and his father's death became the catalyst of Jumin wanting to further pursue music. 

Initially, he was more or less an instrument player as Lee Jumin was a composer at heart. He had enrolled in a music specialty high school, and in his senior year with applying to several music auditions for concerts, Jumin ended up attending an Idol audition. Although confused with their expectations of him having to dance and sing, the noriette somehow passed and got a contract. He works mainly as a producer for I-luminate as well as being the group's leader.
