Maeve ("Nova")

Maeve has a certain persona that most people know, that being the idol Nova. She's bubbly, energetic and optimistic, making sure anyone she comes into contact with walks away with a smile. However, this constant facade can get taxing on her mental health and leads to her shutting herself away for a few days to recover. She can count on one hand the amount of people who have ever seen her in that state and all are certain to agree it's a far cry from her stage self.

Very few people know that the idol "Nova" used to be an explorer of new moons and planets. Even fewer know her real name is Maeve. Though she's already been talented at singing and had a passion for it, in her early years, it was merely a hobby to keep her team entertained and maintain morale in even the most treacherous situations.

She was successful back then, finding many new places for the coelune to settle. However, everything came crashing down when her team was to scout a recently found moon, one particularly mountainous. The flora was deemed edible but there didn't seem to be much land that could be settled on. To find some, the team headed up, into the mountains, scouting for plateaus that could be used. It was while they were walking along a mountain path that the rockslide began.

The Rockslide

The mountain clearly didn't like being disturbed as a shower of rocks and boulders rained down on Maeve and her team. They fled as fast as they could, Maeve taking up the rear to make sure the others would keep going. One of the others tripped over a rock that landed in front of their foot, badly spraining their ankle. Refusing to leave them behind, Maeve stopped to help them up, having no regard for the rocks colliding with her.

Right as they reached the end of the path, a large shadow passed over them. A boulder the size of a small elephant had fallen over the edge of the cliff above them and was barrelling towards them. At that moment, all Maeve could do was throw her injured colleague to those already ahead and run after. However, already fatigued from the run, was just a little too slow.

What Happened After

Once the dust and last few pebbles cleared, her team ran back to search for Maeve. They quickly found her, knocked out and lower half trapped beneath the boulder that had fallen. It took all of them to get the rock off of her and pull her out. Immediately they lifted her up and transported her back to the ship, each face wearing a grimace at the state of her legs. Thanks to the medical team, Maeve was quickly stabilized but they had to make the decision to amputate her legs just below her knees, knowing nothing could be done to save them.

Years of physiotherapy and long nights of mourning passed and soon Maeve felt confident enough to leave the care of the medical facility. Determined not to let this keep her down, she took up singing full time and found she had an audience for such a thing. Whether they only listened to her out of sympathy she didn't care. All she wanted was to keep making something of herself and providing even a small amount of entertainment to her fellow Coelunes. She took on the name Nova, left behind her days of exploration, and now tours the galaxies as an idol.
