Kyler is a 15-year old student in a small town high school during Devil's Triangle. She's one of the smartest girls in school. Her only friend is Ray who she has an unrequited crush on. When she realizes that he will never have any feelings for her, she finally moves on.
In Romance Uncliched!, Kyler has grown to be a confident 26-year old ConCoct agent of the RomCon startup. She is in a secret relationship with her coworker, Jamal Lone.
Background
Kyler was a latchkey kid. Her parents were both too involved in their work and left Valerie and Kyler with their grandparents.
When they were young, Valerie and Kyler were very close. However, after Kyler saw Valerie trying out a cigarette, Kyler naively reported the incident to their parents. Realizing that the sisters required supervision, their parents decided to control their lives to the point of being a helicopter parent. Due to Valerie's rebellious instinct, their parenting technique often didn't work on her. So they gave up on reining her in and focused all their efforts on Kyler.
When Valerie's parents tried to distance Kyler away from her, she objected but was easily overruled. The two sisters grew more and more distant.
History
At the start of the novel Devil's Triangle, Kyler is a shy teen who has a crush on her friend, Ray. Ray however, does not share her affection and often adopts a rude attitude with her.
It's only later in the course of the novel that Kyler realizes she's been in denial about Ray's feelings. Finding comfort in her older sister, Valerie, the two sisters reconcile.
When Kyler grows older, she becomes a ConCoct agent in the RomCon startup. Her relationship with Valerie in the novel Romance Uncliched! shows that the two sisters are very close now. She also ends up in a loving relationship with a coworker, Jamal Lone.
