Plot
Hopeless romantic Yu Junming is over the moon when he lands a job at the RomCon startup as a ConCoct agent. From meet-cutes to ultimate airport runs, he must re-enact surreal romantic scenes to fit a client’s dreams. Sadly, he botches his assignments and learns the hard way that romance needs a dash of practicality.
Despite his track record, he’s soon tasked to help his boss, Grayson Black - a die-hard cynic who dislikes him at first sight - to find love. Through disastrous dates, the two men grow closer and realize there’s more to each other than meets the eye.
Junming fantasizes of seeing even more of Grayson but he also finds himself drawn to Fernanda, a spunky and eccentric undercover reporter who masquerades as a RomCon client. When Fernanda unexpectedly ends up heartbroken after an awful date, she falls for Junming. Pitiably ignorant of her mission to dig up dirt on RomCon, Junming is stuck between two people and a hard place called reality.

Our CEO, Nick Rich, had a vision five years ago with his best friend, Grayson Black, who’s the CTO, to start this company right from their apartment bedroom. Together with the great CEO visionary, Grayson created a streamlined site that connects all romance enthusiasts to build a crowdsourced dating platform. ConCoct agents utilize that dating platform to run your Con-cocted Romance scenarios - thus giving rise to the name of our very company!
How RomCon Works:
As a ConCoct agent, you’ll receive a copy of the book Romance Uncliched, which provides training for the romantic inclined people as to scenarios that may happen in real life and how to handle them appropriately. There are a few types of client scenarios that ConCoct agents handle:
- The Meet: This is when the client wants to have a classic meet-X (cute, angst, etc) with their target. The target may or may not be someone they already know and the target may or may not know the client.
- Dates: After the client establishes some form of interest with the target, the client will want to arrange follow-up meetings.
- Events: When the client is already in a relationship with someone, they may want to organize an event that helps improve their relationship.
ConCoct agents use the RomCon app to arrange for the client's scenario. The app serves as a platform for agents to obtain crowdsourced help from volunteers. Volunteers are grouped into different categories called ConGroups. The ConGroups consist of:
- Procurement: The members of this group have access to venues, items, and events.
- Transportation: The members of this group provide the modes of getting people or items to where you need them to be.
- Participation: The members of this group facilitate the meeting by playing a part or a role as either a passive or active member.
- Grooming: The members of this group aid with makeup and dressing of the participants and the client.
RomCon Organization:
The three main building blocks of the startup are:
- The CEO: Nick Rich deals with fundraising, sponsorships, and providing vision for the company.
- The CTO: Grayson Black handles the development of the crowdsourcing app.
- The Manager: Valerie Kim is in charge of human resources and customer service.
The employees of RomCon consist of:
- ConCoct agents: Agents use the app to provide RomCon's services and interface directly with the client to realize their dream scenario.
- ConDuit engineers: Engineers develop and maintain the crowdsourcing app as well as social media.

Fernanda is the third main character of the story. She's an undercover reporter who is investigating RomCon.
Nick Rich
Nick is a supporting character in the story. He's the CEO of RomCon and Grayson's ex-boyfriend.
Valerie Kim Hyeon
Valerie is a supporting character in the story. She's the "ice queen" manager of RomCon in charge of human resources and customer service.
Kyler Kim Eunji
Kyler is a supporting character in the story. She's Valerie's sister and a ConCoct agent at RomCon.
