STORY

Once, long ago, Captain’s sea terrors, King, Emperor, and Chief, were separate, living deep in the ocean and… Well, surviving. At some point the three met, and became friends… Or more than friends? Eventually, though, King got injured pretty badly by another sea terror, and the three decided to try going up to the surface, as they had heard others had done before. They didn’t want to be separate, even if that would give them all total autonomy.

The shell they had made—that they had decided to dub Rex, after King, the injured sea terror, later to be known as Captain Rex—looked a bit different than it did now. Rex appeared much younger, and a fair bit smaller. They weren’t very good at masking the fact that they were three separate beings in a shell back then, and Rex often acted quite erratically, and got mistreated by some surface dwellers, leading to Emperor resenting them quite a bit. The others, however, didn’t, at least not as much; Rex was different, and different things are scary; the surface, then, was scary to all of them, too.

Decades have passed by now, and Rex—or Captain, as they now insist on being called by most, is much, much larger, to accommodate his sea terrors as they have grown, and his sea terrors have adapted to piloting him much more cohesively. He has a more consistent personality nowadays. He has stayed near the ocean, for the most part, and owns a boat which he uses to go fishing in the open ocean with. Emperor thinks it’s a bit silly that they left the ocean only to linger around it, but they had joined the Fisherman Guild at some point, and felt obligated to stay in the area and help their fellow Dreadnauts.
