DESIREE

Desiree was the oldest of her two siblings, her youngest sister being the one who had Lina. She loved her family unit and especially the concept of becoming an aunt, she had planned to teach her niece or nephew everything that their mother wouldn't necessarily agree with. All of them were incredibly close growing up, and she wouldn't let the others make the same mistakes as her, but also acted as an adult for them, if they needed to get out of something that they were too embaressed or worried to ask their parents for.

Her love for partying took up most of her teen and young adult years, she didn't really care for her education, only focusing enough to ensure that she'd be able to get a good job to help herself along. She never intended on having children, she liked having this carefree life and the ability to change partners whenever she wanted, having nothing tying them together.

GAINING LINA

She was slightly taken aback when she found out her sister wanted to put Desiree in her will to take legal guardianship of Lina if anything was to happen to them. However, she did accept, both glad that her sister was taking precautions for the future, as well as the fact that she was the chosen and trusted on. Desiree became a secondary arm to lean on, when either her sister's husband couldn't get the time off, or simply she needed another ladies arm to help her out.

Desiree was heart broken when they died, but shoved her mourning aside to become a stable icon for Lina, but eventually let herself mourn and helped Lina through her emotions as well. Despite having raised Lina most of her life, she has no aim to change how Lina views her. Desiree has only adopted Lina due to the easier life it would give them paperwork wise. She also never wants Lina to forget the few memories about her parents and will happily provide her with any further memories of them.

HER & LINA

Lina adores her aunt, more then any other person in the world and sees her as a massive inspiration. Desiree's opinion holds a strong hold over her, and Desiree knows this, so she's always careful with what she says. She wants to support her niece, even if she doesn't understand what it's about, but she also wants her to be her own person, knowing that if she stays too close then she may not florish into the young lady that she's meant to be.

The two have kept to the niece / aunt relationship, especially when Lina was younger. Lina does only see her as her aunt, as well as an inspiration, but she also remembers her parents and almost feels insulted when others suggest she should call Desiree mum for everything she's done for her. Desiree may call Lina her kid sometimes, but always clarifies that she means it in the way of the kid that she looks after, and her kin over her own daughter.
It also warms Desiree's heart that Lina will bring most if not all of her problems as well as her friends to Desiree for advice. She is enjoying that another generation of children are seeing her as an adult who they can trust and can get them out of a sticky situation without judging how they got into that problem in the first place.
