Past

Being a pureblood Barghest, she has the unconscious ability to sense how close someone is to death. She is saddened by this knowledge of peoples' deaths, and for a long time avoided others because of it. Hatred for Barghests started to rise again in England and surrounding regions, and so she fled to the United States where she thought people may be more accepting, and they were. But at this point she had given up trying to connect to anyone, until Anakulos entered the picture.

Present

The two met when Anakulos took a stop in Florida. It turns out he was on a journey to find Sun Wukong and to become his equal. The two hit it off and immediately became friends, and Chloe tagged along. They began traveling together because Chloe shared his desire to find Sun Wukong - on Chloe's side, she wanted to 'end mortality' by learning how Sun Wukong trained to become immortal. However, early in their journey, Chloe lost her immortality by making a deal with a witch to save Anakulos from a curse that would slowly kill him. She yearned to get her immortality back, but eventually, Chloe and Anakulos both came to the realization that death is a necessary part of life that even Sun Wukong respects, and they both decide to give up their endeavour, embracing mortality and death.

After spending a few months together exploring and learning new things, Chloe and Anakulos found themselves growing closer than either expected. They both realised that they'd fallen for each other but kept it to themselves for a while. They decided that they wanted to spend time getting to know each other before making any major decisions. They spent several weeks going to new places together to learn more about the world they were part of. After much deliberation, the two finally admitted their feelings towards each other and settled down in Florida, where they had originally met. She is now married to him, and calls him 'chimp' or 'love monkey' against his wishes.

Abilities

Constitution [ general abilities ]

Barghests are black dog spirits who can sense a humans' oncoming death like a smell. They can shift between dog form and a human-like form, but they always keep their ears and tail. They are also immortal, meaning they cannot die from natural causes. Pureblood Barghests can only be killed by severing or otherwise destroying their soul chain with a silver weapon. However, Chloe herself lost her immortality, so she now has this weakness as well as normal human weaknesses.

Powers [ inherent abilities ]

Barghests constantly have wrapped around them an invisible chain made up of their soul, and the sound of it is always heard rattling when they move. If they want to materialise it into physical form to use as a weapon, it turns visible and their irises turn fiery and change color to match their chain. They can manipulate the length of their chain at will, and use it however they'd like - Chloe will either use it as a whip, or wrap it around her fists as gauntlets. They burn on contact with skin in a sensation similar to frostbite. When they use this chain, however, they are susceptible to attack, for this chain is ethereal and cannot be broken if it is invisible.

Reaper Frenzy [ out-of-control ]

A Barghest should stay in control of their emotions while their chain is summoned, or else they will lose all sense of reason. Their entire eye will be engulfed in flame, and they may attack anyone on sight if they are not restrained and calmed down. They will move like a feral dog, even if they are in their human form.
