Profile

  • Cis man - He/Him - Homosexual - 45 y/o
  • 7'2" ft Au Ra; Xaela
  • Classes: Bard
  • Personality:
    • Qoribucha is a rather grumpy individual who has been somewhat embittered towards the world due to loss and hardship.
    • Underneath his scaling exterior, he's actually rather caring, tending to others and fearing for the safety of those he holds dear.
    • He holds something of a disdain towards the Twelve as well as Azim and Nhaama due to the loss of his husband.
  • Backstory:
    • Qoribucha was originally born along the coastline of the Ruby Sea in the Mankhad tribe.
    • The son of a Qalli nomad who had settled down with the tribe, Qoribucha was skilled with instruments from a young age, showing a preference for music than hunting.
    • Eventually, as he came of age, Qoribucha departed the Mankhad tribe, unsatisfied with his lot in life. He joined the Confederacy and cut of all ties with his family, believing this was the best way to forge his own path in life. While a part of the Confederacy, he learned the basics of piracy and sailing, and transitioned from blow darts as his preferred weapon to the bow.
    • It was around this time he met Caragai Mol, who he first encountered while picking up spices from Reunion. Despite Qoribucha's initail awkward attempts at courtship, the two eventually hit it off, forging an unbreakable bond. Said bond was eventually put to the test when Qoribucha was faced with choosing between his allegiance to the Confederacy and Caragai, as the former leader was not one to allow engagements with outsiders.
    • Qoribucha ultimately chose to leave, fleeing with Caragai to Kugane, where they sought refuge with another pirate ship bound for Eorzea: The Golden Navigator. The vessel's captain, Wuntwilf Merlzirnsyn, welcomed them aboard and quickly grew fond of the pair of lovers, allowing them to join his crew for years to come.
    • Qoribucha eventually became an integral part of the crew, leading them in sea shanties and becoming the best sharp shooter among them, while Caragai served as one of the more knowledgeable medics.
    • For twenty years, Qoribucha and Caragai sailed with the Golden Navigator, eventually even indulging in the Eorzean tradition of getting eternal bands to be wed.
    • Five years prior to present day, much of the crew of the Golden Navigator sacrificed themselves in the fight against Leviathan and Titan. Qoribucha was among those chosen to remain in Limsa Lominsa and became the Quartermaster for the new crew titled, Wuntwilfwyn's Revenge, led by the former captain's daughter, Lynatwyr Wuntwilfwyn.
    • Among those that went down with the ship was Caragai, who claimed it was the will of the gods for him for him to be on the ship. While Qoribucha had held out hope that Caragai might survive the endeavor, his crewmates said a part of him died when the light on his eternal band dimmed.
    • Qoribucha grew to become very bitter shortly thereafter, showing great disdain towards the deities he and Caragai has once worshiped, along with the Twelve. He also mostly stopped singing, content to simply play on his lyre and occasionally perform in disguise in the Limsa Lominsa plaza.
    • Qoribucha has eased into his new role as Lynatwyr's mentor, and although he is often quite rigid towards change, he has begun to relent a little in order to keep up with the world and those around him.
  • Relationships:
    • He has been dating/married to Caragai Mol for roughly 25 years. He previously believed Caragai had died during the fight with Titan and Leviathan in the lead up to the Calamity; however, during the events of Stormblood, he was reunited with Caragai and learned that by some divine grace, Caragai had managed to survived and returned to the Mol tribe under the guidance of the gods.
    • He serves as a mentor and advisor to Lynatwyr Wuntwilfwyn, often acting as the reality check she needs when making more idealistic decisions. He views her as something of a daughter.
    • He is somewhat close to B'runi Masna, having been a part of the ship's crew when she was rescued with the rest of the B tribe from Ala Mhigo. While he doesn't voice it, he is often fearful for her safety when she is doing Warrior of Light business.
    • He does not like Su'a Khao. He often refers to him as "stray" or something along those lines. However, he understands the Lynatwyr holds him dear and thus tolerates him. By Heavensward, due to the loss of a common friend, the two grow a bit closer, and because Su'a is the reason Qoribucha finds Caragai in Stormblood, Qoribucha is at least occasionally nice to him now. He still frequently threatens to throw Su'a off the boat though.
  • General Notes:
    • His father was a Qalli, hence his fondness of music.
    • His instrument of choice is the lyre, but he's also a skilled singer and able to play the harp, flute, fife, and panpipes.
      • He attributes his ease with learning and playing wind instruments to his time in the Mankhad tribe.
    • The bow he uses was crafted for him by several members of the B tribe as thanks for caring for them since they fled Ala Mhigo.
