Caelus Quilkente

Physical Appearance

• Medium-length hair with orange bangs in the front/right, reddish-orange hair in the back, and dark purple hair on the left side
• Dark brown/almost black eyes, although they turn red once he's afflicted with demonic taint
• Fair skinned with a slight tan
• After being afflicted with demonic taint, red marks/spots appear on his skin, particularly on his hands and around eyes (see ref)
• Somewhat short to medium in height
• Physically fit with a decently muscled build

Clothing Style

Caelus tended to dress for the warm weather of Daliarivon beneath Aaquanixie, which later was named Quilkente in his memory. He dressed primarily in black with gray and white accents, and his clothing was very durable for all the traveling he did. His most common depiction features him wearing a gray slightly-torn tank top with a black high collared vest that he never seemed to zip up, along with black shorts. He wore black boots, kneepads, and a belt around his left thigh which had small storage pockets attached. He also wore a black jacket tied around his waist, which also had larger supply pouches and pockets that he used primarily for carrying his essential belongings while traveling. Around his hips and waist were two black leather belts, and he wore a fishhook necklace, either openly or tucked under his tank top. On his right hand he wore a black fingerless gauntlet with white studs on the back of the hand, and on his left arm he wore two black straps just below his elbow.

Personality

Normally very adventuous, curious, and headstrong. Apparently he enjoyed exploring the new regions of Daliarivon when the Eternity was young, and he'd rarely been seen without Rusalka at his side. Although very bold and fearless when exploring, he'd often be softspoken and a bit passive when speaking with other people, which Rusalka tended to take charge of for him. He was known as a sweet and compassionate young man that loved life and the world actively being created around him.

However, after Rusalka's demonic aura seemed to warp her personality and appearance, Caelus never seemed quite the same either. She clearly was afflicted with demonic insanity, yet she never seemed fully aware of it, and the sudden change in demeanor and her increasingly aggressive tendencies tore a rift between them. Rusalka remained affectionate toward Caelus, but some of her actions appeared hostile or malicious toward him simply because she seemed to be losing her grip on her sanity. Caelus became frightened by her after some of her actions threatened his life, and he became desperate to get away from her after she gained a violent obsession with preventing him from leaving her. Since then, he became more melancholy and distant from the world around him, and the absence of his friend made communicating with others more troubling for him.

When spoken about in legend, he is often portrayed as an eager young man whose spirit was later irreparably broken by his best friend's betrayal.

• Has few to no supernatural abilities, but he has a heightened sense for rifting in general, particularly Anti rifting activity

• A bit small in stature and easy to overpower
• Deeply sentimental and emotional, and gets very stressed when he has no one to express himself to

Backstory

Caelus was a young Dyric that lived in the newly created region of Daliarivon beneath the planet of Aaquanixie. He along with his best friend, Rusalka, loved to venture out into the other regions and explore Lord Dalia's creations. The two were practically inseparable growing up. However, after meeting Jevix Xyarok, Rusalka became keen on strengthening her aura like him and becoming as strong and demi-godly as him. Her increased company with Xyarok along with her own obsessive training caused her demonic aura to flare up at a rapid rate, scarring her red skin and tipping her mind slowly into insanity.

During this time, Caelus traveled the world searching for her, constantly worried over her absence. He later found her in Daliarivon in the great ocean below Lynxith. By then she had changed drastically, both physically and mentally, yet she still greeted him as her beloved friend. She wanted to continue exploring the world with him like before, but her shaky grasp on her sanity made her overlook her own physical changes and new capabilities, and she nearly drowned him while forcibly taking him with her into the ocean. Caelus became terrified of her when she persisted in trying to get him to join her on other encounters, and she even successfully took him below the surface and ended up trapping him in an underwater cave to keep him from leaving her.

Caelus barely managed to escape her thanks to a chance encounter with Xyarok and Aru Vetrian. Although he left the ocean, Rusalka would continue to follow him across Daliarivon, and he spent most of his time avoiding her to keep her from hurting him again. The repeated encounters between them caused him a great deal of stress while also strengthening his own demonic aura, so each time she caught up to him he seemed to get stronger in aura, making it easier for her to track him. However, instead of strengthening him like the other demons, his aura was like an affliction on his body that grew each time Rusalka found him. The affliction along with the emotional stress from lamenting having to avoid his best friend ate away at him.

During the War with Yashana's doppelganger, Caelus did all in his power to fight for Lord Dalia's cause and to protect the world he loved. By this time, his demonic aura radiated so much power that it afflicted his entire body, sapping him of almost all his strength. Despite this and Rusalka's clear apathy toward the War effort, Caelus joined Xyarok and the other Original Demons in the battle at Dalia's Gates. It was during the fight that Caelus's affliction finally consumed him and he perished.

The region of Daliarivon under Aaquanixie was named Quilkente in his honor, and he is remembered in legend as the one who first treaded across the land in its creation.
