~~CLOSED~~

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!! BLESS YOUR FACES LOVE YOUR SUGGESTIONS
MUAH UR BRAINS
Gonna ask a few friends for their opinions to help me with picking fhdsjkfsafdshjk theres so many good ones
Appreciate the well wishes too! Thank you guys

pellemon - pellucid meaning clear/translucent + demon/monster/just the suffix of -mon sounded nice :] pronounced pel-uh-mon (personal favorite)

ombrelings - ombre as in shadow and color ombre, lings as in the end of schmetterling, which is butterfly in german and also the -lings suffix makes them more species-ish like -mon does. also "ings" is the end four letters of "wings." even if you're not focusing mainly on butterflies or wings, ombrelings is still a good choice since it's easy on the tongue and marketable

asteraiths - asteroid + wraith. building on the ectoghoul sort of name... giving them a bit more of a spacey vibe lol

these look so cool and im absolutely in love with that guy....... happy birth month! hope you have a great time :]

This sounds like such a cool species!! I opened this page up a while ago and couldn’t think of anything,, I finally have a few suggestions though! ;w;

Vitalocera - Rhopalocera(scientific suborder that butterflies are in) crossed with viţă (word for blood(or more specifically, beef) in Romanian)

Papiliofals - Papilio, Latin for “butterfly” combined with Fals, Romanian for “fake”

Dolus Impus - Latin for “Wicked Deceit”

Translations were through google translate so I’m not sure how accurate they are, but I hope this helps!! I’m super excited to see where this species goes- good luck! :D

SKDHS I FORGOT. Happy birthday (month)!!! Hope everything’s smoothly and that you have/had a lovely time celebrating!

Bog demons.
Shiver wisps.
Ectocrines.

vampirists

rossivexes

silas muses

Maerias ( m>ah>ri>a>s)

Aastrats

Xens

Hope one oif them gets picked

Thank you!!

Lunios (lu•nee•ohs)

Helarius (heh•lair•us)

Both are somewhat a mixture of Helios and Lunar— even with the characters shadowy appearance it reminded me of the sun. Anyway enough ranting, good luck name picking!

Onumbra - Fusion of oni ( a type of japanese demon) + umbra (shadow in latin)

Demoir - Demon + noir (black in french)

ObsKuros - Obscure + Kuro (black in Japanese)

  1. Adeiazos: Greek for "empty." Could possibly symbolize the loss of something... Maybe the species could be regular people that have faced a hardship that made them lose part of their very being and left them "empty" and as a result turned into these beasts...
  2. Kurlings: The oldest language in history is Sumerian, and the Sumerian word for the underworld (particularly the Mesopotamian one) is "kur", with the addition of "lings" which basically means "something to do with."
  3. Ushakis: "Usha" from the Sumerian "in death" with "ki" meaning "earth." TLDR; "Earth In Death." Sumerian root used for the same reason as the last one, with the particular words used being a possible source of lore: the species could be the result of a dying Earth decaying the life force of humans that had once been normal.

Thank you for hosting & I hope you have a lovely birthday!!!!!!!!
  1. Insecarnis: Related to the origin word for insect (Insecāre) meaning to cut lines (this were similar to the ones found in their bodies used to study them) and the word for meat/flesh (Carne)
  2. Haima:  Greek root word for blood tht signifies it's smooth decay
  3. Amárantos: "Eternal, undying and everlasting" Used to usually talk about plants since it denies it consumption or withering

Daemon - Shadow.

Daemon is the old word for demon, and these days means an evil spirit.

A Shadow as the subspecies, because he feels like he'd specialize in darkness and shadow abilities.

Or a Dark Vampyre. One that takes energy from a mortal through the darkness of their soul.

Daemones | daemon - (Actual word) meaning "evil spirit" but its sounds cool!

Kerastra - "Ker" means a destructive spirit and "astra" means star in latin

Kermalums - the word "Ker" again but with "malum" meaning evil in latin

Ectocula - Ecto (ectoplasm) + Ocula (ocular referring to the eye) -- they could be referred to as Ectoculi for a plural term!
Sightwraith - sight + wraith!
Oozeling - they ooze a lot so I thought this was fitting too! (Could also use the name Oozy / Oozies too)

Thank you for the chance!

oculos + distillans = ocullans (sounds like oculos lens lol)

used google translate for the latin translation so i'm not sure how accurate they are :"D

lepidopteran

Oramite

Dralonian

pyrolignings [Based on pyroligneous acid, liquid smoke, bc the tail gives off that vibe personally ^^] tusche [A black liquid used for drawing] Stellites [Like, stellar but not! Lol]

Shadowjumpers. Mariposa Tieflings. (butterfly in Spanish). Ectoplasm Apparitions. Ectoflings. Flydows(Flying + Shadows). Insectoidlings
I put several names inspired by the older designs and by this one

Going for more simpler naming cause I lack serious creativity.

Nestlings, Wingled, SkyMist (Aoi-mystic)

yōkai - The word yōkai is composed of the kanji for "attractive; calamity" and "apparition; mystery; suspicious." Yōkai are also referred to as ayakashi, mononoke or mamono.

pronounced yoo-kai

will-o-moth

wispter (wisp + specter)

farfalla (butterfly in italian)

and happy birth month <33

  • EptesicusFloweri (scientific name of horned bats since your characters have wings or horns)
  • AdonisLasiurus - AdonisNoctule (adonis being greek for handsome and either noctule or Lasiurussince because they’re both types of bats)
  • AglaisGhouls (Aglais is multi colored butterfly derived from the characters wings- in greek is means splendid or shining, Ghouls for their skull motifs!)

Inkseekers

Aethgrinns

Psychcarrion (would refer to them in singular like with moose or could go in plural of Psychcarridae)

Insectrum (insect + spectrum like a color spectrum) Faeils Prismantic

Septichoul ? Like Septic + ghoul if that makes any sense
Horridogen like horrid and pathogen !

Dripbugs

Monskull

how about one of these? :0

Fizzlings/Fizzwings (I hope this doesn’t count as two separate?)

Ghoulbugs

Dripwisps!!

Glasstias, their pretty wings look delicate and pretty like glass, combined with the scientific name for a lunar moth, Actias Luna.

Monarchuna’s, (pronounced monarch-cuna) they’re so majestic so I had to choose a gender-neutral for king or queen, once again paired with the ‘Luna’ part of Actias Luna.

Daemonarch’s, a combination of the Latin word for ‘demon’ (daemonium) and ‘monarch.’

Reflectre ( like Spectre dnxndn )

Prisminke ( Prism + Ink ,, idk they have funky colors and an ink like stuff,, )

Yindark

this character design and species designs you’ve linked are so cool looking!! here are some name suggestions :)

  • Entoghoul (combines the prefix relating to bugs with ghouls inspired by some of the older butterfly wing designs!)
  • Lepiaus (combines various genus of butterflies)
  • Drozileon (just sounds neat)
