Story
Growing up was a bit difficult for Laurie. His parents didn’t have much, and worked all the time to provide their children with all they needed for this new life. Laurie learnt how to be independent from a young age, while looking after his little sister and helping out his older sister. He studied hard, in order to make life easier for his parents. If he studied hard, then he’d get a scholarship to a good college, and he could get a good job and help out his parents. It’d be good like that, wouldn’t it? He just had to work very hard, and it’ll be easier then.
When he did get that scholarship, things became quite difficult. For some reason, one of his professors had it out for him, and held Laurie to an extremely high standard. He’s not quite sure why. So to combat all these long nights, he started to get coffee more often. This is how he met Toby. This barista just kept messing with him when all he wanted was coffee. Unfortunately, he made coffee well, so he kept going back. Great idea.
Unfortunately, Laurie was hired as a French tutor to help someone get through their classes. More unfortunately, it happened to be Toby. Even more unfortunately, the Millers decided to hire Laurie’s parents to work for them. So now they literally cannot escape each other and are made to get along with each other. Actually, this is not a bad thing. The more they hang out with each other, the more they actually realise the other is not so bad. So they learn to get along and learn how to get themselves out of some situations they end up in. They end up growing quite a bit closer after that. We’ll see how it works out.
Relationships
Toby (romantic)
Though Laurie is annoyed with him often, he does genuinely like Toby. He’s happy he agreed to help him, even if it was just for the money and even if they argue over silly things quite a bit. He’s glad that Toby is here, actually, to help him with a lot of things.
Laurelei (mother), Laurence (father)
He’s forever grateful to his parents for doing all they could. He supports them nowadays as much as he can, and they’re always glad to see him.
Lauren (older sister), Laura (younger sister)
They’re arguably a bit more successful than Laurie though they all get along well and are hilariously quite similar to each other.
Justine, Christine, Andrew (children)
They don’t appear until much later, but he loves his little ones very much. He is a miracle parent, somehow, and manages to keep them all in check with seemingly no effort.
Dantès (dog), D’artanyan (cat)
A St. Bernard and an orange munchkin. Two strays that Toby and Laurie found wandering outside their shop that they took in. They don’t appear until much later.
Extra
He thinks his name is fine, actually.
Laurie later runs a coffee shop with Toby.
