Kayan enters his best state of mind when he is making something. With a whittle in his hands, he can craft just about anything he envisions, then letting his body take over and leaving his mind to take in the world around him. Sometimes it’s just too tiring to spend all that time in your head, you know? The solution will find itself when you least expect it, like from around the corner of an evergreen forest. Though his dark look, the fact he carries what’s pretty much a wood knife and obsession with looping metal things onto his person makes him look really tough, behind it all is a strange fascination with easy-to-access clip-on items and a craft-obsessed sweetheart. If you come for his minimalist approach to life or roast his carabiners… there will be blood.

Kayan is serious and attuned to his environment, and forces Callie to slow down and look into herself and lose herself in her environment and attune herself to her world and her feelings. He likes to sit and listen to her chatter away, and they like to share wired earphones, sinking into the forest. Kayan admires Callie's quick thinking and ability to always come up with something to say, and she admires his attention to detail and quiet stoicism.
T4T solidarity, they seem to share a bond between them that's just that extra bit stronger than other friends they have due to their shared experiences. It also helps that both love the great outdoors, where they can spend an afternoon doing whatever in silence and still enjoy each others' company. Jamie, often better with words, helps Kayan work through what he's feeling, and Kayan helps Jamie leave the confines of his mind to appreciate reality more deeply.
Both love to escape to the outdoors and take spontaneous hikes - Jasper talks, Kayan listens. Often they like to go without maps - if they get lost, it's an adventure to get back (and a good challenge, and all the more reason to delay heading back.) Jasper often sets unrealistic projects for Kayan to make with wood and Kayan - hating to be one to disappoint - will keep experimenting until he gets it right.
