Gale is an excitable little bug, who loves to explore and find new things. He's often energetic, and has no end to his determination when he sets his sights on some prize. Often, he can be found sketching or writing about his latest discovery.

Gale treats most he meets with only a little suspicion. Hes agreeable and usually tries to make fast friends. However, he doesnt appreciate those who don't return the kindness and can get a bit grumpy. With Gale, it's often highs and lows with few in-betweens when dealing with his emotions. He almost always feels them strongly, meaning his current mood is not often mild, for better or worse.

Gale is overall fairly short, standing at around 1.5 Ghosts tall. He has a slightly rounder build than a vessel, though he is still pretty lean and thin. His mask has four horns, curving slightly with the larger ones behind the smaller ones. his scarf is slightly ripped at the end.

Design Notes

  • Gale's cloak is varying shades of green, never all the same hue. The order of the colors is not important, and neither is the actual practicality of the cloak.
  • Gale almost always just wears his scarf in a basic loop, with one end tucked away. However, he's not unknown to wear it differently from time to time.

Gale always carries his book with him. Filled with sketches, notes, and other various observations, it's his pride and joy. He jots down most everything new or intriguing he encounters, be it animal tracks or architecture. For his weapon of choice, Gale carries a dagger/rope dart mix. He'a a skilled user, even if it's sometimes a less-than-practical weapon. Still, it's got range, which can be handy.

History

Gale was not originally from Hallownest. Hatched to an ant village outside of the kingdom, Gale grew a distaste to the boring and mundane life that the queen forced. He decided to leave, satiating his needs for adventure and to get away from home at the same time.

Upon arriving in Hallownest, he was fascinated by it's history. He noted the masked figures, and soon after met a strange bug who offered to make him one. He agreed, assuming that the masks were some kind of tradition or custom.

Placid

After traveling for a while, he went a bit too deep one day. Though he didn't realize it, he was right above the ruins of the palace when he found Placid. Gale would have assumed they were desd had they not twitched. He sat them up, noting cuts on the hands, arms, belly, and feet. As best he could, he tended to the void-shaped body, although it seemed mostly self-healing. When it was strong enough, Gale took the vessel to his makeshift home in Greenpath. There, he took care of them. They didn't seem to know much about anything, ao Gale taight them. It couldn't speak, so Gale taught sign language too. Soon enough they were exploring together.

Trivia

  • Despite his small size, Gale loves open space and is quite claustrophobic.
  • Gale's mother was high in the nobility of the small village they lived in. He forsook that when he decided to leave, though.

Placid

Placid is the vessel Gale found and helped recover. Although it's still rather secretive about its past, the pair's adventures and life together formed their friendship into a romantic relationsip. (Art by Leviathan2340)

Pyre

Gale and Placid traveled with Pyre for a while. While Pyre often tormented and otherwise teased Gale, they grew a little closer. Still, it never progressed much past frenemies as they clashed too often. (Art and character by Leviathan2340)

Bishop

Gale loves Bishop's shows as a traveling entertainer, and sees them when he can. He likes to think hes struck a personal connection with Bishop, though that's likely not the case. (Character by AnOriginalBreakfast)
