Gabriel is Jack's guardian angel and spends most of his time on Earth so that he can watch over him and keep him safe. She's decided to take a more hands on approach to doing this by befriending him and joining him on his investigations into the paranormal. It's a two in one deal, she gets to keep an eye on Jack who is always getting into trouble, and also gets the thrill of doing something herself and keeping busy.
Gabriel is very good at understanding the psychology of people and figuring out what makes them tick which helps her a lot in finding her way around life acting as a human. He's the type of person to try and brighten any room she walks into, always ready and willing to make a new friend with a whole host of jokes lined up and ready to go at a moments notice. He tends to take in the energy of the people around him, if others are having a good time then she's in a wonderful mood but if someone's upset he's more likely to feel upset himself.

Gabriel has kept an eye one and off one Jack for years, carefully steering him in the right direction. He has loved Jack for longer than Jack has ever known her.
She decides she can't keep watching from the sidelines any longer and meets with him in person and it's everything she knew it'd be. They're perfect together.
While on their journey Jack and Gabriel slowly end up picking up the others. First Lucifer, then Raphael and Michael. And it's... Awkward at first. But they all ultimately have the same goal and working together benefits them all.
While journeying they end up getting into all sorts of chaotic nonsense and grow closer for it. The five all learn to lean on one another, they're each others home.
While investigating an abandoned hospital Jack is caught off guard by a creature known as The Glade... And ends up dying to it. By Raphael's suggestion the other four use pieces of themselves to put him back together and bring him back to life.
Gabriel is a mess after Jack dies, for a while he completely refuses to acknowledge what happened and tries to continue on business as usual. Michael has to stage an intervention for her before she finally lets herself process what happened.
