History

~He and his half brother Vratra(Ha) were selected by the Great Dog Spirit to protect the current generations Heir of the Dog Spirit from the Great Cat Spirits fury. As the Cat Spirit intended to sacrifice the 12 heirs of spirits it hated in order to weaken and kill the other Great Spirits.

~Forced to lose his humanity Rinarime despises the Dog Spirit and for many years despised the young child heir, Zu, who they were to protect, largely since if they failed to protect her he and Ha would truly die. For many years the brothers traveled with the child, restricted to the form of dogs. Until 10 years after becoming the heirs guardian, they meet a man named Aaron (the heir of the great dragon spirit) who was able to grant Rin and Ha the ability to transform back into a human-like appearance. At this point, Rin no longer hated Zu, and is nearly as over-protective of her as he is of his older brother.

Backstory

~Backstory (from before becoming the guardian of the Dog's spiritual heir, about 300 years before meeting Zu, when he was still human):

-A prince of a country (a mix of Southern Asian countries, particularly India and Western Europe from the time of the 1500s-ish). He is the first and only child born between the king and queen. The king had a previous son several years with a maidservant. Rin's half-brother, Vratra, despite being a bastard child was originally holding the rank of the Prince Heir. But when Rinarime was born, Vratra was stripped of his rank and reduce to a rank slightly higher than a servant (Vratra was still very young at this point) and Rinarime was made Prince Heir within the day of his birth.

-Rinarime spent his early years completely unaware that he had an elder brother. Rin has always been extremely perceptive even as a small child and when he was 6, he notice a boy several years older then him among the servants that held an air that was not servant like. He mentioned the boy to his aid, who accidently let it slip that Vratra was the king's previous child (no one was supposed to mention anything about Vratra to Rin).
