There was a distinct smell of desperation in the air today, a sour, bitter smell that cut through the incessant raindrops like a hot knife through tamu butter. The streets were filled with desperate faces, people who'd given up hope and resigned themselves to their fate. It was as if the city itself was sinking, slowly but surely, into the muck and mire of depravity. I took a drag of my cigar, grimacing as the smoke irritated my lungs. "Just another day in Zaun, huh?"
