Adolescence

in grade 6 August had a brief friend group that had been introduced to him by his brother. At a birthday party for one of the people in this group he'd met Quincey who he learned actullay lived pretty close to him. August liked Quincey a lot and they became really good friends, walking to and from school together and hanging out a lot. Something August did not know though, was that Quincey had been set up onto August by another person in that group. They had heard of August being intersex and wanted Quincey to push August into telling him. The word came out and August distanced himeself from everyone. Everyone but Quincey who he had not known had any part in the bullying. Later, in their 8th year Quincey felt guilty, and told August about their old friends' plan and their involvement. August was furious at Quincey, not just for what they had said for the the fact that they had been toying with him, they had lied to him and August considered Quincey his closest friend, he felt overwhelmingly betrayed. August cussed him out, throwing whatever harsh words he could at them in defense and refusing to talk to or acknowledge them from then on out. August was along again and angrier and despising school more than he ever couldve before, while Quincey had gone back to the nasty group of people they'd been apart of before.

August got more and more into art during the loneliness of school hours, avoiding rumors in which only made him get more into his own head. He refused to interact with any other students, severely distrusting any that even looked his way. After graduating his parents encouraged him to get out of the house as often as possible, being supportive but attempting to encourage him into the world. He'd often just end up in a park or library smoking a joint and painting where he could be unbothered and destress. One day heading to the library he bumped into an old friend on his way out, not even recognizing them at first. apologizing and making small talk when August quickly realized, this person is flirting,, and this familiar voice was Quincey's. Doing nothing unusual for them, they enjoyed playing with people like that. August' first instinct is to leave immediately, but Quincey stops him, asking him to talk in the most authentic tone August ever heard from him, they were begging. They end up at Quincey's house, Quincey apologizing profusely, the two talk about their childhood and getting emotional.

Adulthood

After reconnecting, August and Quincey become closer than they've ever been before, learning of feelings they had for each other, basically becoming completely transparent and catching up with each others lives. August ends up accidently staying overnight 3 nights in a row, just content and enjoying his company in their rediscovered friendship, now something more. Quincey becomes a big comfortand support outlet for him, often shuffling between their house and his parents'. He wants to focus on his art and get a job doing that but he is still struggling socially getting aggravated easily, he is still young though he has a lot ahead of him.
