Lore:

Strafford was abandoned on the streets of Wyndon after his trainer found out that he couldn't evolve into a Low Key Form Toxtricity. He admired Nic for her Toxtricity-inspired performance outfit and how she was well-known around Galar, as he saw her in many advertisements and billboards. He spent the most of his life by picking up trash scattered around the city, until two postmen found out about his potential in becoming one of them, as the job of mailman was open for literally anyone due to a sudden shortage of workers. Young Strafford was hired by them, and he even got a set of uniform designed just for him because the postal company had heard about his love for Unova. He lived in the main headquarters of the office, and tried his best not to cause any trouble to them.

Strafford then took an interest in skateboarding, where he often used this method to deliver mail as quickly as possible. This, however, resulted in him falling down from his skateboard multiple times. While Nic was walking to her practice room for her next performance, Strafford accidentally bumped into Nic while delivering letters on the skateboard that the postal company provided. Nic helped him pick up the letters and had a quick chat with him. It was then that she noticed that he had the huge potential to be a part of her team. He apologized to Nic, as she was in a rush, and went on with delivering his letters.

It was after a year that Nic had heard news about him coming to his concert, and saw him again while she was performing her last act. Seeing him, she told him to come up backstage while the concert was about to end. She then told Strafford about her dreams in becoming a casual Pokémon trainer with a team that never fails to surprise her, and she felt like Strafford could be one of them. Strafford smiled, and immediately accepted the offer to become a member of Nic's team.

Strafford still works part-time for the postal company, and even became "worker of the month" for a few times while he was there. They have all heard about his story, and were all glad for him that he had finally found a safe place for him to stay.
