Personality

Juno has never been one to sit still and look pretty. From a very young age, she was forced to fend for herself, and developmentally this left her with a hard exterior meant to defend herself from potential hurts. Her gentle side is well hidden by a guise of nothingness. Amidst other things, Juno learned how to be one of the most irritating cats on the face of the planet. With a mind built for strategy, and a vendetta to fulfill, her tactics of battle forever changed the way that the Rogue Clan tackled PineClan patrols. Her brilliance is unrivaled, and her dedication and loyalty to that which she believes in can be challenged by no cat. She appears to have no fear, no qualms or questions, and her confidence in the abilities of her warriors is nothing short of a marvel. She is unwavering in her convictions, always taking steps and steps towards something bigger, something better, something more brilliant. She’s the most motivated cat one can find, and her ambitions lead to successes. If there’s a high chance something will fail or go wrong, she places herself on the front lines alongside her warriors. Their loyalties are to her over their commander because she is always down with them, getting her paws dirty. She entrusts herself alone with the most difficult and dangerous of missions, and would give her life for any cat in her ranks, be them the most helpful or the weakest of all. Her selflessness too, is unquestionable. She is willing to kill for what she believes in, and of every Rogue Clan cat, she has the most blood on her paws. She is the most infamous of every enemy of PineClan, and the face of the ‘rogues’ whom they hate.

History

Juno was born to an unspecified rogue outside of either Rogue Clan or PineClan territory. As soon as they were old enough to wean, their mother left Juno and her three siblings. They learned to hunt by a combination of instinct and studying other rogues hunting, a dangerous but effective way of figuring it out. Juno bore the brunt of the damage from their lessons, and when she was only two and a half moons old her right eye was clawed out, leaving her with a rather gruesome scar and an empty eye socket to pair with it. They lived half starved, eventually driven into the haven of PineClan territory for easier hunting. Juno was off to herself when a PineClan patrol happened upon them. The apprentices on the patrol were allowed to kill the kittens, and Juno was hidden as her brothers and sister were massacred. During the chaos, one of the warriors caught sight of her. Instead of killing her, he told her where she could find the Rogue Clan, and encouraged her to run and find them. They would help her. She did as she was told, and at only five moons old the tiny, incredibly thin mollie found her calling.

The Rogue Clan was incredibly welcoming to the young mollie, and they took her in and fed her as she grew, getting her up to weight. It became quickly apparent that the aspiring warrior was far ahead of the curve, and she began training under the seasoned warriors of the time, primarily switching between Marvel and Margarine, twins who were born into the clan. It wasn’t long into that training that someone started the idea or concept that Juno was a reincarnation of Junebug, the founder of the Rogue Clan. Juno’s battle tendencies were eerily close to the ones which Junebug was described as favoring during her reign, and their speech patterns seem similar as well.

Juno met another trainee named Sparrow, who she quickly grew fond of. They were promoted to warriors at the same time, and within a few moons had become mates. Juno was hard on the path to becoming a Seasoned Warrior, but after a year of continuing to train under them she took a break to raise a litter. Her siblings’ names had faded with time, but Juno’s two sons honor her brothers, Rick and Eros. During that time she found a nameless kitten who she took under her wing, naming her Lilah in honor of the sister she lost.

One day, the warrior who had saved her so long ago appeared in camp, bleeding heavily, nearly torn to shreds. Juno watched the Rogue Clan cats rush to his side, the Herbalists taking him down to the tunnels to heal. Confused, she inquired with Margarine what was happening and who the cat was. Her response was cryptic. “Shadowfang, our last Turnclaw. He must have been discovered and tried. I suppose that kit of his is lost to the cause now.”

Juno’s life began to speed up from there. Margarine and Marvel died on patrols, and Juno was raised to fill their positions. Shadowfang was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant when their old one was killed in battle, and Juno’s kits began their training. She began to run into Ashblaze, Shadowfang’s daughter, on PineClan territory during raids. Soon after this, their commander died of age related reasons, and Shadowfang rose into the position. Juno was appointed Lieutenant. Some moons later, she was leading an attack when Ashblaze pinned Sparrow. Juno could not attack, if she did Ashblaze would kill him, but if she didn’t the same thing would happen. She was relieved when Ashblaze lunged away, but before Sparrow could rise, the guard named Jaystep lunged onto him and tore out his throat. Stricken with grief and shock, Juno called for a retreat.

Ashblaze was ordered to bring Sparrow’s body to the border, and instead of slitting him open for the crows as was customary, the warrior called out to Juno, telling her where the fallen laid. Juno was able to burn his body. Shadowfang asked her to try to convert Ashblaze to their cause, as she had been his chosen before he was appointed a Turnclaw and nearly killed. Juno was unhappy about that, but did her best. She met Ashblaze several times over the course of seven or eight moons, keeping tabs on her every movement to eventually provide her with a leg up when it was needed.

Juno orchestrated the mission to drug the apprentices and kidnap Cinderpaw from the apprentice’s den, knowing full well that it would drive Ashblaze to them. Her goal was to provide Ashblaze with a final choice, to join them or to give them up, and this revealed to them that Ashblaze’s father was still alive and leading the Rogue Clan. Ashblaze reacted horribly to the situation, and Juno watched from the trees as Timberstar and Ashblaze began their fight to the death. She had long ago promised to burn Ashblaze’s body with her token when the time came, and evidently that moment was here. Ashblaze was beating Timberstar, much to Juno’s excitement, when the horrid Chief made an attempt on Cinderpaw’s life. Ashblaze threw herself in the way, and the blow meant to kill the apprentice landed on her throat, gashing it deeply. Juno followed the warriors sent to slit Ashblaze’s body from the treetops, and collected Ashblaze’s token as they went. She alone moved Ashblaze’s body to a pyre, and tied the feather into her fur.

Juno brought Cinderpaw from the apprentice’s den when it was time to burn the bodies. She lit the stick, and allowed Cinderpaw to ignite the pyre. They sat together as the smoke allowed Ashblaze to reach StarClan. She patiently answered each of Cinderpaw’s questions, and told her exactly how to return to camp without being seen, questioned, or even smelling off. Cinderpaw applied these tactics to leave again half a moon later, and Juno found her waiting at the border. She tutored the young cat in the ways of the Rogue Clan, until the night she had to do a patrol with Eros, and she left her son Rick to help. Cinderpaw had been named Cinderdust in that time. He later asked her if he could continue her lessons, and Juno allowed it.

Rick came to her one night and explained that a guard had followed Cinderdust to the border and caught them both. Cinderdust had killed the guard, her former mentor, and to disguise the wounds and make it believable that he had done it he had further messed with the body so it looked like a true Rogue Clan attack. She made quick to track what happened and intervene if necessary, but the trick worked. Rick and Cinderdust later fought, and Cinderdust vanished from their view for a moon.

Juno happened upon the warrior one night a bit outside of camp. It was obvious that she was now heavily pregnant, and Juno approached her to speak with her. They discussed quietly the situation at hand, and Juno offered advice and stories about her time as a queen, and as dawn approached, the lieutenant promised not to tell Rick if Cinderdust did not want her to.

Juno’s time began to be consumed by watching over Cinderdust again. At any hint of danger to her or the four kits who were born, the lieutenant would extract them even at the cost of her own life. One night after the kits were two moons old, Cinderdust met Juno at the border. She told her to tell Rick that he had four perfect kits. Her son was thrilled so much by the fact that he was a father that he ignored the fact that he had been slighted of moons of their life.

One afternoon, when the kits had reached about five moons old, Cinderdust appeared in the tunnels, soaking wet with one kit in her mouth and two others at her heels. She was borderline hysterical, and screamed at Juno to protect her kits, before turning tail and beginning to race for PineClan. Juno knew with a sinking certainty what was about to happen, and she ordered Rick to stay with the kits and Herbalists until a runner returned to them, no matter the outcome. She then began to arrange an all or nothing, absolutely unprecedented grab at control of PineClan.

With almost all of the Rogue Clan behind her, including Shadowfang and all but Rick of their Seasoned Warriors, Juno leads the charge from the trees, diving down onto the warriors and guards who had encircled Fennelstar and Cinderdust. Cinderdust was standing, throat torn out, shaking slightly. Juno was fighting to reach her when what appears to be lightning strikes, and Cinderdust suddenly lunges forwards, snapping Fennelstar’s neck and then collapsing herself. For a second a very bright, blinding light lingers, and then all goes to shit. Juno throws herself over Cinderdust’s unconscious frame and does her best to staunch the bleeding while also defending her from the PineClan guards, all of whom are targeting both of them. In the end, it is just enough to keep things stable until Eros and Lilah come to her rescue, taking down two of the three guards, leaving Juno with just Jaystep. She shreds his stomach, letting him bleed out with his intestines spilling free of his body, and whispers to him that it was for Sparrow.

The herbalists arrive very quickly after, and take over care of Cinderdust alongside the PineClan shaman, Nutfall. Juno forces them all to work on her despite the fact that she is bleeding incredibly bad from a multitude of wounds the guards had inflicted. She is having a hard time walking, but someone informs her that Shadowfang has died, making her the new Commander. She manages to get herself onto the announcement rock, and calls out to all cats left standing, PineClan and Rogue Clan alike. She gives a very quick overview of what is going to happen now that they are back in control, and appoints Gale to be her new Lieutenant. With that finished, she stumbles down, and gets a few steps away before collapsing into the mud. Eros helps carry her into the medicine den, but they are still working on Cinderdust and she forces Eros not to distract them. Rick arrives with the kits, and at her request he brings the three young ones to her. They are talking quietly for a long time, despite the blood that is pooling around her, and it does not take long for her to begin to get very tired and sluggish. She asks Rick to bring them to the nursery so that she can rest, and as they are leaving, little Springkit calls back “Goodnight, grandma Juno!”. That is the last thing she hears as she slips into unconsciousness. The healers try to save her as soon as they finish with Cinderdust, but she is too far gone, too much blood lost from protecting the mother of her grandkits.

Juno’s body is burned the next time it rains. As with the last mother figure Cinderdust lost, she sets flame to the pyre which will send Juno to the stars. When she reaches the land of StarClan, Ashblaze is waiting, a small black and cream kitten sitting at her side. Sootkit, Cinderdust’s fourth kitten, races forwards to greet his grandmother, and forever forth Juno rests alongside her first grandkit.

Eros

Eros is Juno’s son, a small abyssinian tom much like her in personality and convictions. She trained him to take over the role of territory mapping. He escorts her on stealth missions and has a brilliant capacity for memorizing details about the land. His connection with her is one of respect and love, and it shall never be broken.

Rick

Rick is Juno’s second son, an average sized slightly fluffy tom with a much more happy, humorous personality than her. He takes after his father, Juno’s mate Sparrow, who died during a raid. She trained him to understand the physics of tunnel building and defense, allowing him to take over the role of caring for the secret home of the Rogue Clan. He has a capacity rivaled by no one else in understanding how to protect the tunnels from attack at any point, and his grasp of physics also allows him to assist Juno in developing new battle tactics to harass PineClan with. As with his brother, he holds a very strong respect for his mother, though their relationship is much more relaxed and loving than his brother’s relationship with her.

Cinderdust

Cinderdust is Juno’s daughter in law, and the mate of her son Rick. When Cinderdust’s mentor and mother figure, Ashblaze, was killed, Juno watched over the young apprentice from a distance, and when the time was right assisted her in getting out of the camp to attend Ashblaze’s funeral. She taught Cinderdust how to light the pyre, and explained the significance of burning. Cinderdust’s fascination with the concepts that had killed her mentor led her to continue sneaking out to visit Juno for lessons on what the Rogue Clan was, what and who they believed in, and what they did and were trying to do. Juno assumed an almost motherly position for Cinderdust, and after she became a warrior Juno continued to watch over her, offering advice and wisdom when the warrior was lost. Eventually, Juno would sustain the wounds that killed her defending Cinderdust’s unconscious body, giving her life for the kit she loved as much as either of her own kits.

Ashblaze

Ashblaze is Juno’s greatest enemy, but also one of her closest likenesses. The pair had a tenuous relationship at best, and for the majority of both of their lives they hated one another with a passion. The main similarity they shared was a fascination with the other. Ashblaze’s conflicting mind and ideals intrigued Juno, and in turn Juno’s methods of battle and her strange mannerisms piqued Ashblaze’s interest. Juno’s mate was killed in a raid, and Ashblaze was indirectly at fault for it. However, the warrior returned the body to the Rogue Clan, alerting them to its location before fleeing. They were able to burn his body the next time it rained. Juno was assigned to follow Ashblaze after that, and try to recruit her to the cause. She spent a lot of time harassing Ashblaze, locating her token time and time again, harassing her by night, and calling her a “Turnclaw”, amidst other things, and over this time they formed a rather broken sort of respect for one another. Both were deadly warriors, incredible fighters and strategists. When Ashblaze was killed, Juno was the one to locate her body along the border, and despite how mutilated it was she placed it on the funeral pyres, and when it was time brought Cinderdust, then still a -paw, to the burning so that she may give her final goodbyes.
