Gerrie

Gerrie was a clever, mischievous child, created as one of the first two Prototypes at the newly established Bright Sparks Labs research facility. An unaddressed malfunction in the nutritional system of the tube they were grown in obstructed their development, leading to poor blood flow and asthma throughout their life, and frequent sickness. They were unusually smart, picking up on concepts and able to read people better than their brother Buddy, but still didn't really understand the scale, or the stakes, of the facility they lived in, and certainly not the world outside it. They often got themself and Buddy into trouble, pilfering goldfish crackers and playing tricks on their hapless and unqualified caretaker, Jacob. When the Prototype children were three, Gerrie was brought to an unfamiliar area for a test, and saw the sky, and the sun, for the first time, through a skylight. It was soft and warm and blue, just like Buddy, and they decided he needed to see it too. Devising an escape - a temporary one, they thought - Gerrie led their brother through the halls, the two scampering and giggling. Upon running into a group of security guards, however, the expedition quickly turned fraught, and then deadly. Buddy panicked, letting loose power he hadn't realized he had, killing the guards and setting fire to the hall around them. Gerrie couldn't calm him down, no matter how hard they tried. But they couldn't leave his side, either. They died, choking on the smoke filling the air. Their claws were still tangled in Buddy's fur when he was taken away. The scientist who created them was killed by the flames, and the facility went bankrupt in the wake of the incident. Gerrie’s remains were never recovered, and no record of their existence seems to remain, besides the memories of one man, and one sad little pony.
