Odie Milo Grey (Incognito)

Personality

More than anything, they trust their gut, and their first impression of people tends to stick hard.

Odie tends to be contrary to strangers in a harmless way-- they find amusement out of making situations more difficult than they need to be, and especially appreciate slapstick humor. Despite being pigheaded at times, their heart is in the right place and they're very charitable when it comes to helping someone out of a hard situation. Just note that Odie's help often comes with as much annoyance as it does progress.

Odie is honest. On the other hand, it doesn’t occur to them to go into lengthy detailed explanation, so while they’re willing to share information, it often ends up being unhelpful or causes misunderstandings due to their inability to spell out their thoughts and intentions in full.

Odie's confidence makes them intimidating, rather than charming. Their attention seems to be all over the place when interacting with others, but they are usually focusing more than it seems. Odie is strongly motivated by spite, promises, or proving people’s guilt.

Mannerisms

Odie prefers to cover their face, with a variety of partial or full facial coverings of numerous function. This, combined with their overall privacy tendencies, has led to their nickname, "Incognito".

Odie has very little regard for other's physical space, but doesn't tend to pry in conversation (if making conversation at all). Their affection tends to be physically aggressive.

They enjoy climbing to high places to perch when waiting or scouting-- leading them to greet others by dropping out of the sky without warning.

Speech

Odie tends to be silent around strangers and acquaintances-- a habit established at an early age by hanging out with Harper all of the time. They still communicate their teasing through looks and meaningful silences.

Their snark comes through more in text, as they're more willing to banter through written communication.

When typing, they have a tendency to combine words to make non-existant vocabulary, and they tend to use all caps more than one might expect.

PRESENT

Odie is Jed's recently assigned partner (and technically his probation officer) in the field. They've grown up with one foot in and one foot out of the Secret World, giving them a little bit of an advantage in regards to reacting to the supernatural. Although very friendly, they're a private person, only giving out the bare minimum amounts of information required for the situation.

Origin

Although half-demons are still not common, they are not as violently rejected by society as they were tens or even hundreds of years ago. Odie's demon mother was dead due to the nature of her work as an exile assassin, while Odie's father was living in America.

Odie's father tried to encourage them to embrace their oni heritage but at the same time discouraged Odie from using any of their supernatural abilities, fearing drawing attention. Unable to come to terms with him, Odie gently distanced themself from him, growing independent at a young age.

They met Harper (a Dragon) when they were on the roads, and he kept an eye on their activity while also offering guidance. He never officially inducted Odie into the Dragons however, preferring not to get them directly involved and being vague about Odie in his reports. His handler, Min-Sook, still learned who Odie was through other means.

Joining the Templars

As they got older they became more meddlesome, following in Harper's footsteps in that regard. They moved wherever the word on the wind guided them in regards to the secret world, acting as more of a vigilante than a hired assassin as was typical of their kind. In this manner their attention was brought towards Kingsmouth, and they sought out access to the island. Sneaking into the hell dimensions was difficult but doable (though unknown to Odie, they had Dragon assistance via Min-Sook, who had been tracking their activity and who had a hell resonater placed conveniently within their proximity), and they stumbled out at the Overlook Hotel. It was here that they first met Jediah, and then were contacted by Templar higher ups and gently urged to accompany him.

(It was later learned that Odie was "handed over" to the Templars by Min-Sook to Richard as part of a deal, and an attempt to recover the usefulness of agent Corvus.)

Odie relies on Jediah's healing to compensate for their low survivability. Their go-to tactic tends to be "smash it before it smashes me," but if things go awry they can easily compensate with stealth and quick thinking. Although they adapt well to supernatural phenomenon, their actual technical book smarts are not all that high.

Primary - Hammer

Odie has an immunity to fire, which they use in tandem with their hammer abilities. They have a preference for makeshift blunts of a lighter weight than traditional hammers (bats, poles, etc).

Secondary - Chaos

Odie uses chaos magic freely interspersed with hammer abilities, gleefully creating duplicates. Their duplicates are often different in appearance from the original, normally wearing different masks or even having Oni form.

Abilities

When crossing over into the hell dimensions, Odie takes the form of an Oni, while in the earth dimensions, they appear as a human. Their oni heritage grants them a form of immortality but not invulnerability, so they tend to be more cautious than the bees they associate with. They often pretend to be a bee instead, because it is more socially accepted by most.
