Poppy used to view Alistaire as a general annoyance. He would come to the diner and make a mess, feet up on the table and everything. But after a while, she realized that he was, for the most part, harmelss. She saw him often, his status changing from a regular customer to a friend. Poppy sees him for someone rambunctious and creative, someone who just wants to have as much fun as possible. She sees a lot of her little brother Dixon in his personality - wild and goofy. As such, she started to act more friendly to him. After a few years, they've formed a sibling-like bond, trusting each-other with their deepest concerns. She even invites him to become her best man when she gets married in the far-off future!
Upon moving to Silver City, Alistaire was in dire need of new haunts, and was drawn to Rock 'n' Roll Rivera's by its fun vibes, committed aesthetic, and largely queer staff. He particularly took to irritating Poppy, whom over the years he's come to see as a sort of sister figure as the diner has become a queer found-family safe space for him.
They bond over their love of pink (though, sure, Alistaire's is hot pink and hers is more of a blush), clubbing, and girl talk, but there's more to Poppy than that -- she knows how to totally kick ass. Alistaire can't NOT admire that. She reminds him of his own sister in a few ways. She's also very touchy just like him, and god, does he want to be touched wait who said that huh hes not touch starved shut up
Poppy met Sal through Zora. They both hit it off, seeing as Sal is from Texas and she's from Rio Grande. They share similar childhood experiences. Poppy often sends homemade barbecue to Sal through Zora, and tends to his wounds if he happens to get in a fight. She likes the guy and thinks he's trustworthy.
While they might not get to talk often, Sal loves to do it. They had shared childhood experiences, and Sal loves to relive the good parts of Texas. He appreciates Poppies' concern for him when he gets into fights, even if he doesn't see the point of wasting supplies on wound care for him.
Poppy likes Mason! It certainly helps to have another server around. She loves how they smells a bit smoky at all times - not like cigarette smoke, but more like a campfire? Regardless, she thinks they're a good person and that they're misunderstood by others. She'd fight for them if it came to it.
Mason admires her take-no-shit attitude, and her compassion for others. They trust her, and her presence always improves their day. Mason would say they'd kill for her, but knows they'd be more likely to have to hold her back than anything.
Poppy was drawn to Isa the second they first met. Poppy had heard about her friend Alistaire's childhood and wants to make sure Isa never goes through the same thing. Poppy loves Isa a lot, and she wants to make sure Isa has the best life possible. Isa can be a handful sometimes, sure, but Poppy wouldn't change it for the world.
Poppy is the most beautiful woman Isa has ever met. Her baked sweets are to die for, and she's great at doing Isa's hair. Isa wishes Poppy was less strict about sweets or making messes - she's the 'bad cop' out of her two moms, so to speak.
