Omniopteryx (Closed Species by candychameleon)

Profile

Anatomy Guide:

-Breasts are used to store water and fat, and in some cases for nursing young.  Having no breasts is a mutation, and one that can be detrimental to an Omniopteryx’s life; they are more easily dehydrated and less able to withstand harsh conditions, and often have a very high metabolism.  Omniopteryx, depending on class, can have up to 3 pairs of breasts, and they can be located either on the chest or between the legs. (The Uncommon Loss from Injury trait is free to add/remove)

-Omniopteryx can easily stand upright, but usually only do so in situations where they feel safe.  They assume a more raptor-like stance when fighting or hunting, and can run, gallop, or fly.

-An Omniopteryx’s neck can extend out or squash down, similar to a bird’s.

-Omniopteryx do not have different sexes or sex/gender dimorphism, and instead are divided physically by class.  Omniopteryx can identify as any gender and go by any pronouns!

Workers

Workers are the most common type of Omniopteryx.  They are well-suited for most ways of life, and are often in charge of tasks such as scouting, hunting, and gathering.  Workers do a lot of work both in and outside the hive.

Drones

Drones often have heavier builds, and can commonly have armor plating, stingers, and horns.  Drones do more work inside the hive than out, guarding it, the young, and the Queens.  Drones are also often in charge of training grubs, and some may even care for the young.  However, when there is a threat to the hive, Drones will often be sent alongside Workers to fend it off.

Queens

Queens are the rarest sight among Omniopteryx, and can only be found in hives.  Becoming a Queen is a difficult path, one that many grubs choose not to take.  Queens are in charge of overseeing and leading a hive, training and picking out candidates for new Queens, laying eggs, and some may be tasked with migrating with a select number of other Omniopteryx to build a new hives should overcrowding take place.  Queens are the only ones capable of laying eggs, and often grow much bigger in size than the other two classes.  They are also capable of magic (although it takes a lot of training to develop, practice, and hone those skills.)  Multiple Queens in one hive, called a "Parliament", is not uncommon.
