Kaine Arkanus

Light is good and darkness is evil.
That's always been the law... right?

Before he was Kaine Arkanus his name was Erik Ram, a boy from a wealthy family... and a deity. Offspring between a deity and the very mortals they vowed to watch over was unheard of and had always branded Erik as taboo from the very first breath he took. When it was discovered that he was blind in one eye, the distrust and disgust only grew, as did his loneliness.

As he grew older he made friends. They were good, close... false. He'd learned majority were either paid to be around him by his family or tried to get close for connections. Even his fiance hadn't been real. He learned that when he found her and their daughter's car wreck. Right on the way to meet the man she'd been seeing behind his back the entire time.

From that moment on he'd seen everything differently; clearly.

Every issue, every complaint, every smile.
Every. Single. Thing.
It was all so dysfunctionally the same. Nothing could change it, nobody wanted to! And it kept spiraling further and further downwards. He'd been the same, but no more.

Taking the deity's power for himself, he changed his name to Ark and vowed to take things into his own hands.

Notes: This guy is one of my very first characters, making him... like 14 years old-ish? He went through SO many changes-- shadow-user, minotaur??? All kinds of things, but his alignment was always the same. It wasn't until I started moving him to Toyhouse that things started to piece together like his motivations and reasonings. This far in time and there are still times when I feel the urge to update him!

Personality: Although he can handle his own in a fight, Ark has always been the type to want to use violence as a last resort. To him it's better to talk to people, to feel them out and understand them better. He's invested in understanding someone's motivations. He seems to earnestly want to help others...

Non-Human Abilities:
- Light - Having become a vessel for the enter element, Ark controls the light. He sees and hears anything the light touches, and can teleport there just the same. His form of fighting with it includes using it to blind opponents by surrounding them in harsh light or solidifying the element into spikes, weapons, and even fighters.
- Immortality - He can be wounded, yet not killed. Not yet, at least. There is a way to kill him, but you'll need to figure out the secret.
- Memory Manipulation - His newly obtained powers went straight to his eye and restored its sight with the addition of a peculiar ability. He can peer into people's memories and can even rewrite or erase them. Eye contact must be made for this ability to kick in. Memories can be restored with a strong enough willpower.

Drawing Details: The common expression for him is a smile, but... it's not a friendly one.
Usual outfit consists of an overcoat that hangs off the shoulders with a fur collar; a brown vest with indigo tie; sleeves rolled up to the elbows and gloves; and black slacks with brown and gold shoes. His coat had a sun symbol at the tails and golden sleeves, and on the back is a sun symbol people often use when referring to him.

Fun/Extra Facts:

- He originally had black hair and green eyes, but they changed once he gained his powers. He changed his name afterwards.

- He's capable of manipulating the other deities, hence why none have outwardly defied him.

- In order to mingle with the mortals, the deity Ark's related to took a physical form. Ark got rid of it so the powers would have no choice but to go through him, as though he were a vessel.

- The deity was the embodiment of the element of light.

- Ark had no powers until taking them for himself.

- The light changed his appearance and had even restored his sight.

- When his father was alive he would mingle with life in the guise of running a large business. Ark took it over.

- Loves chess. Naturally.

- No longer attracted to anyone.

- His daughter was named Belinda, and had she still been alive none of this would have happened.
