Jake is Sam’s older brother and Reed’s eldest son. Reed favored him over Sam which led to emotional abuse. Jake hated being the favorite as it made him feel like he couldn't be himself and he had to be ‘perfect’. He tried his best to make Sam feel like he belonged but he knew deep inside how hurt Sam was. Jake just wanted his father to love him and Sam just the way they are. But Reed’s love grew more distant from Jake. All Jake wanted was his father’s approval and love, And he was willing to do anything to earn it, Even if that meant turning on his brother, Sam. Reed told Sam to attack F.A.N.G. to see if Sam was truly loyal, But before Sam could refuse, Jake threatened him to listen to his father. This made Sam feel betrayed and Jake could see it in his eyes. The moment he saw the sadden betrayal he felt nothing but guilt and knew not even his father’s love was worth breaking his little brother's heart. After Sam couldn’t finish a mission his father ordered. Reed ordered Jake to go after him. Jake tried to refuse but was threatened that if he didn’t Sam would be locked in prison for life. Jake couldn’t let that happen to his brother, so he accepted. Jake catches up to Sam and tries explaining that Reed will ruin both of their lives if he doesn’t turn himself in. But Sam already felt betrayed and was terrified. Before Jake could say anything Sam ran off heading towards a train track. Jake noticed the train right away and went after him. Before Sam could get hit Jake pushed him out of the way and instead lost his leg. Jake lies bleeding as Sam stares in horror. Sam tries to help him, But he hears the sound of more hunters going after him. This scares Sam off and he runs into the forest to hide. Ever since the accident, Jake and Reed don’t really talk. He still lives with Reed but the two barely ever talk anymore. Jake forgave Sam and assured him it was his own choice to jump in front of that train but Sam still feels terrible about it. Despite this, The two still meet and have a close relationship. Jake isn’t that social anymore as he feels insecure about having three legs, And Sam is the only one he talks to now.
