excerpt from a prompt: “My that’s a much deeper question now isn’t it.” Mochi chuckles softly before shaking out her fur, ridding herself from the tension creeping under her skin from the uncomfortable question. She settled herself back down, wrapping her tail around herself a little tighter this time, the tip of it flicking frequently. Her tufted ears twitched, a response to conjuring up the memory. “Well.” She began, “I’m not sure about the others, but the last time I was blessed by a memory from the sky was when I was a kit.” She paused for a second, taking time to determine how she wanted to form the rest of the story. “I was on the streets, huddling on the box in the middle of the alleyway, quite some time before the family I have now. I was cold and lost and scared, I had just ran for my life from one of those darn street dogs! But, I had finally found some place to rest my tiny little paws. I eventually shivered myself to sleep, but instead of dreaming of nothing or of some fresh hot food that made my mouth water like I usually did, I saw my mother. See, my mother had passed recently and I was having a hard time experiencing the world without her. She had lost the rest of my siblings while I was too young to remember them so I was her main focus in life. We were on a mission to reach the forest, not some fake little puny forest those two-legs make, but the real one. One like this. But it felt rather impossible now that I was by myself. She must’ve known this though as she came to me to yell at me to keep going.” The she-cat chuckled almost melancholily. “Well, firmly reprimand me from giving up and demand that I keep on going, to finally make it to the haven we knew was out there. At first I couldn’t believe she was actually there, so I smacked her! Boy did she not like that, haha! She bopped me upside the head real quick for that one. She bid me farewell by saying, ‘See you later!’ because she always told me that we’d never need a goodbye because she’d always find her way back to me, that’s how deep her love is. I’ve always kept that with me, and since then I’ve never told someone a goodbye, only ‘See you soon!’ or something similar. But after that, I had just enough spunk in me to continue the grueling journey and, well, here I am! So, I hope you like my tale but I must get going now. It was great to meet you and to answer your interrogation to the best of my ability!” Mochi smiles well-meaningly. She stretches a larger stretch this time, and turns to leave. “I hope to see you again, see ya.” Mochi bops the feline on her forehead with her tail softly before trotting off into the forest.
